With the fantastic new Theatre proposition, I think it is interesting to see how the audio and video signal management, and also audio and video reproduction have been going around various ‘cabinets’ over time:
From the ‘norm’ (I trust that there are historical exceptions) that everything is integrated in one cabinet to separable cabinets: (trying to be complete)
AV9000 – audio&video management + video reproduction in one cabinet, separate speaker cabinet (with VCR though)
BeoVision 4/12 – audio+video management in BeoSystem 1/2/3/4, separate screen, separate (center) speaker
BeoVision 7 – audio+video management & video reproduction combined, separate (center) speaker
BeoVision 9 – audio+video management in BeoSystem 3, audio (center) and video reproduction combined in one cabinet
BeoVision 5/6/10/11/14/Horizon & BeoPlay V1 – all in one
BeoSound Stage/Theatre & BeoVision Contour/Eclipse/Harmony – video management & reproduction in one cabinet (TV), audio management and reproduction in one cabinet (you could argue the Contour has no easily separable cabinets, but I believe the screen is actually a complete LG TV)
It looks like that first the speakers were isolated from the AV management, then later also the screen. Then it all came together again. After that the video management found its home in the screen, and the audio management in the center speaker. Which sounds quite logical to me!
I am using a BeoSystem 3 with an LG C9 and a BeoLab 7-1 center speaker, but actually only use the audio management and PUC control of the LG. All video management is with the LG. Bigger cable salad! 🙂
Just a thought.
Watched the two video’s now, very interesting. I would see the thick aluminium fins of the Theatre also as a reference to BV6&7 secondary ‘bezels’.
Thanks Steve!
Hi Rolf, I confirm that my iPad app has that same software version (with the same problem still unfortunately).

Hi BeoMedia, I checked both my BLCs right now, and they run on time.
Johan
Hi Rolf,
My BLC setup is practically the same (with a BeoSound Core and BeoLab 4000 though). Migration to B&O Radio did not help to fix what you describe. After a radio station switch on the B&O app, you should also be able to switch stations with the Beo4.
Thanks for opening a ticket too, let’s hope B&O goes hunting for this bug soon!
Johan
Could it be that your B&O app needs an update?
apart from one (quite annoying) change! – I now MUST start radio from the app.
did you change your BLC settings (“IR Mapping”) accordantly?
I did now! And it works. Thanks again for your help Carolpa!
When I first checked the BLC settings, I could not find ‘B&O Radio’ as a source. It turned out that in the set-up menu of the Core all source tick boxes (‘at sources in local list’) were unchecked. I re-checked the tick boxes, and ‘B&O Radio’ (actually ‘B&O Radio’) showed as a source in the BLC’s ‘IR mapping’ menu.
After an update of the app (on iPad) I am also able to use B&O radio (using Millemissen’s tip to rebuild a list of favorites from the bottom up). Playing my stations seems to work well from Core through BLC onto MasterLink, apart from one (quite annoying) change! – I now MUST start radio from the app. Radio with not start with the (IR) remotes. Only after starting radio from the app, I can use Beo4 to select the station or move up&down. The Core keeps playing radio after I switch (my BeoLink Active) off with the remote, but stops when I want to start RADIO (again) with Beo4. Has anyone else such a set-up (and issue)? My Core is at software 2.1.5087122855122.
In the other thread (https://beoworld.dev.idslogic.net/forums/topic/new-software-edge-shape-core-bs1-bs2-a9-mk3-4/) I wrote that I corresponded with B&O about a similar problem (still with Tunein). I will see if there will be a change with any software update and let you know.
I am able to toggle between B&O radio and TuneIn, so for now I will use the latter that still behaves a bit better and does not switch off radio when I use the RADIO button Beo4.
Have a good evening!
Switching radio stations on the Core through Beo4 and MasterLinked products (using a BLC) did not work a couple of times now. After changing the radio station in the app however, it does work as normal. I will see if this persists and if I can replicate and influence and let you know. I did restart the Core and deleted and rejoined both the Core and the BLC to no avail.
I found out that after a full system switch-off (in the app, or with a long press on the Beo4) the issue arises: when I then choose RADIO on the Beo4, the last chosen radio station plays, but I cannot use the Beo4 to choose another station. Only after I change radio station in the app once, I can use the Beo4 again for changing stations (I use TuneIn btw). I will see if I can report this to the software team. Is anyone else seeing this too?
After some friendly e-mail exchange I received this answer: “We are pleased to inform you that yes it will be fixed in a future software update regarding the issue; the issue has been reported to the Product Development team, and they will provide a software update as soon as possible.”
That does not sound too unsimilar. Could you try to switch station once using the app, and see if it then works with BR1?

? Great that you got it working! And thanks again for posting how. Cheers, Johan
The Original Poster of the thread.
Beogogo, thanks for solving the mystery so other readers can benefit! But… you are the OP right? 🙂
My Core is running 2.1.50871, no issues experienced.
Would this be: ‘target marketing at High Net Worth individuals’?
An elegant way to introduce a second source would be through an additional BeoLink product with a Line-in connection.
Maybe with a DAC that has multiple inputs? I don’t know if that exists.
Hi N0nl1near,
The Core has Apple airplay, so maybe no need to connect the Airport Express? The ‘1 x Line-in (analogue & digital combo) with sensing’ is then free for your TV.
