      It’s inside this metal box.

Great thanks! Looking online, I can see that when opening one of these CRTs there are two green boards on the left and right of a brown board that some people mod to add a service button to. Is that metal box on the “back” of the main brown board, so it would have to be completely removed to work on it? I assume that, that metal box is solder in place or is it folded metal tabs. It looks like it might be a bit of a pain to remove the metal box lid to get at the battery.

The MS6000 has a small lithium Battery (CR2450) inside the CPU unit. It must have 3V minimum. There are different software versions on the MS6000. Store-Sound-Store … Sound Menu: Store…

That sounds promising. Do you know where the CPU unit is? I assume it’s somewhere on the chassis of the TV? If so, do you know which board (I assume these TVs have more than one board in the back of them).

I’m quite happy to take the back of the TV off if necessary as I’ve discharged arcade monitors in the past, so quite aware of the high voltages involved.

According to the manual you store the sound level in the SOUND menu. Set the volume you require and then press GO (or PLAY, using BL1000). EDIT: If you have a very old BL1000 remote it may not have a MENU button. If so, press SHIFT then TEXT to get MENU, then use up/down arrows to navigate.

Thanks, I’ve just tried that and had the same result after turning the Tv off and then on again. Volume defaults to 42 🙁

Hello, Just a guess, but with B&O audio systems from the 90s the store action has always been ‘sound’, (adjust), ‘store’ ‘store’. Not just one hit of the store button but two. Julian

Thanks. I gave that a try. Pressed Sound, then adjusted the to something sensible like 14. Pressed store twice. After the first press the on screen sound level disappears then pressing it again does appear to do anything. Turned the TV off and then on again and the volume was back at 42 :(. Tried several times with the same result.
