I have the same problem with my A9 Gen 2. Refuses anything but its original name.
I did mine first day on My G2. No issues. No real point though if you don’t use the TV os. I sure don’t use it, still terrible.
I don’t mean it’s laggy controlling the products. More that the interface and interaction with the halo is a bit choppy. But since its just a glorified volume control it doesn’t matter much.
The Halo isn’t really buggy luckily. It’s just a bit laggy with very limited usage.
The first level response is stupid. I mean my name is attached to the account so look up the serial number on the support end. I mean why even ask that?
But keep back and frothing with them and eventually it might hit the right person.
Are you using the Beta app? its a bug. It’s coming back. But I agree the way the update the app and just change/break things is unacceptable.
I think the reason it doesn’t have WISA is that you need to keep the WiFi and WISA antennas pretty far apart and since this thing is made out of aluminum other than the top (glass?) there is no space for both transmitters.
@severed_hand The Marantz can’t multi-room with my Beosound in the adjoining bathroom. It also doesn’t work just like all the other beosounds with which my wife has finally become comfortable.
I get that what I am saying is the amount of technology is thats included for the price. The Marantz I listed has its own music network distribution but yes it won’t work with B&O systems.
Previously to getting my Essence I used $400 Yamaha receiver with my BL17 and 3rd party sub connected to it and basically did all the same things as this new core with the exception of app compatibility.
I think my main disappointment with the new Core is the price for what you get, which isn’t much.
Would have been nice if they came out with a new Essence remote to go with it. Does this core even work with essence remotes?
I also noticed a big positive boost in base in the last couple Firmwares. Before music sounded rather flat and Bass-less while movies sounded about right. Now Music sounds MUCH better bass wise. Not exactly what I hope it could be but better.
I have a non-B&O TV and wish to improve the TV sound and listen to streaming services and a turntable.
I think the core “Improving” the sound of TV will be debatable. I can’t be the only one that watching TV with external speakers in stereo is the weirdest possible way to watch tv.
I know it’s apples to oranges but for that frankly crazy high price you pay for the Core you could get a full blown receiver that does all that plus more with full surround sound and 8k video. I know there is a B&O tax and that’s fine but it just amazes me how poor the feature set is for that price.

Its funny how in all the product pages B&O shows the core happily sitting out on the open on shelves and tables but they didn’t add any controls to it like play/pause/skip/volume. They could have either does this on the glass white part with the controls illuminating under the glass or add physical controls like the stage has.
Plus it took B&O 20 years to copy the first Mac mini.
At least they moved the power light from the right to the left to make it look totally different though 😀
Never mind adding features? How about not taking them away on current products (TuneIn Radio).
I agree it’s a missed opportunity. I currently have 2 Essence’ mk2’s Hooked up to my turntable and BS8000 with BL17’s and BL8000 hooked to them plus a third party sub. This is because the Essence has 2 Powerlink ports (For up to 4 speakers) and RCA line in. It cost me 1/6 of what this new core does and it still only has 1 Powerlink port. I would have to lose the sub which isn’t happening.
Stereo HDMI for Video audio is a joke, it always sounds warped.
It also really needs WiSA support for this high price.
The essence works perfectly all the time and with all my modern stuff. I don’t see what I would gain from this.

I noticed the app on the website looks a bit different or is that speaker selector on the bottom left something new?
Ive had an issue from the beginning that if I unplug the Theatre or instal a software update the when it reboots it makes a loud feedback hum on all the connected speakers. I come home from vacation more than once to find out it could have been doing that for days. Anyone else?
So far the new firmware of 3.4.1 has been great for me. TV shows and music both sound fuller with more bass. No issues.
Im still trying to figure out what this “Improved Sound” is in the last beta. I know a while back there was some issue with TV audio channels in 3 channel not sounding right and when they tried to fix it they broke something else. Has anyone been able to test this issue?
How do you control your 9000 with the BR1?
What do you mean improved sound?
You can also change the source starting volume for each source now.
The only thing I don’t like about them is when connected to a Theatre or other sound system they become “Dumb speakers” and the top control panel stays off. The large piece of empty black glass looks cheap or unfinished to me.
Other than that I heard they sound better as front speakers than BL18’s do as the 8’s have more bass.
