That home cinema room – still picking my jaw up off the floor.
Staggering.Hello,
This is a very tricky question to answer. The stylus tip is clearly intact, but we can’t tell anything about the suspension or how it’ll sound in general use.
If you’re wondering if it’s clean enough, well there aren’t any huge fluff or dust deposits visible so perhaps it’s ok. But again it’s not easy to tell anything further. You’ll have to bite the bullet and fit it to a Beogram to see how it plays. Perhaps not with your most valuable record.
Forgive me for stating the obvious but there’s not much else to say.
Julian
@Steve Very interesting the Mini-jack to RCA cable also has a trigger signal. But for my understanding, the trigger signal needs to be 5v on Pin 4. Where do you get the 5v to be used on Pin 4 to activate the B&O speaker amp to get from stand-by to active? Hoe does that work with this cable?
Those secrets will stay with Steve for all time dear fellow 🙂
Dear both,
Thank you for your replies – excellent news! This should complete (for now) the lounge set-up with a happy compromise met between floor space needing to be freed up around the sofa and the need for surround sound. They look like good bedfellows of the Pentas too.
I was hoping to get some BL3000’s but at the moment the expense outweighs the need – there is a very nice looking pair of BL4500’s on eBay at the moment but they’re after £600 or more.
For now the Beovox will do the job while looking nice and sexy too.Hi @David656,
I appreciate your comments. I think I’m going to double my efforts to find a pair of BL 3000s. I am a little nervous about what to expect regardig the displays – but there’s a very clever chap I know in Kent who’s a dab hand at 80s/90s B&O repairs so if I find the right set I’m certain he can breath a little magic over them.
Julian
How about using one of these and plugging into a scart socket. The scarts are usually easier to set up and control. That assumes you have a free scart input. Stoobie
Hi @Stoobietoo,
You’re right; I’m using the two scart inputs already. T’was the right call though if I had a spare input.
Julian
The amplifier and all electronics of BL3000/4500 are quite the same. The 4500 is just bigger… and more loudspeakers.
I think you mean the BL5000 as being the bigger speakers. BL4500 appear to be just like BL3000 but with green displays, like the last build of Pentas. I wonder if they sound any different to the BL3000s?
Without a specialist checking these old hardware it’s very frustrating… 90% are simply dead ore unusable. But if its done and they are working: NICE!
Thank you for your comments – I remain ever hopeful of finding a good pair of these BL3000 wall-hangers. They’re so cool!

Hi Guy,
Thank you for your response (I need to go and delete my reply to your other thread now.)
Tricky to convert the Wii lead to a DVI. Plus I would miss the audio.
I have been able to get the image to appear by removing and reinserting the yellow video lead. I guess that’ll be it for now unless another Beoworlder pulls a rabbit from a hat.

If anyone knows of the ‘Camera’ command on a Beolink 1000 please let me know.Cheers,

Hello,
I would keep an eye out for a nice used BV7-40 mk5. I love mine and would certainly get another one if this one packed in, such a gorgeous tv.

You might struggle to use a Firestick with that BV because of HDCP restrictions.
Guy is correct in that only some converters will remove the restrictions. Trouble is afaik it’s not legal to advertise this feature.Julian
Hello,
Just a guess, but with B&O audio systems from the 90s the store action has always been ‘sound’, (adjust), ‘store’ ‘store’.
Not just one hit of the store button but two.

Hello,
There’s nothing wrong with stereo tv, but if you’re thinking of going 3.1 I would recommend a Beolab 7.4 for the centre.
The 7.1 is a glorious speaker on its own, but might sound a bit muddling with the BL8000s as buddies.(BL7.4 is mono, clear, fabulous. BL 7.1 is stereo, musical and ace on it’s own.)
Hello there,
I don’t own a BS9000 but for what it’s worth here’s my opinion.
BS9000 is a show piece. Especially in low light. Its movement is fast and precise, like nothing else available to buy. It’s stunning.
I think this system has a place in anyone’s life if they enjoy the B&O way.
I record my favourite playlists from Spotify on to audio tape ? Just so I get the pleasure of using my Beocord 3500 to play the mix back. At night I just love the majestic lid movement and those fab LED lights dancing up and down.
I would imagine BS9000 users rip their playlists to cd, load up their Beosystem and enjoy that glorious movement on a shuffle play setting.
Is any cd player relevant today? Yes, if you love the act (and art, in this case) of playing a cd and taking the case back to your favourite listening chair to read the inlay card.
And of course, when the router fails or the ISP has a breakdown, you still have access to your favourite music.
Hi Steve,
Looking forward to this – hope you enjoy all the technical and learn lots about some of the techniques used to make these products so beautiful. The fact that our favourite a/v maker still employs movement in its products is one of the main attractions for me.
Julian
Pepps my mistake the BL7. always confuse me
No worries my friend, I was only teasing. You’ve spotted some quality B&O on-screen. Let’s keep the thread alive and well ?
Wait, there’s some mind-blowing production work to get 4 clones in a dance party together, and you’re looking at… the turntable?!?!
? I know, you have a point, but after seeing the Beogram I found even more love for the clones (I still have the ringtone on my phone).
Thanks for linking the video ?Hello everyone, I recently bought a MCL2P from eBay in order to enjoy my Beosystem 2500 through a pair of Beovox 3000 (flat panel) passive speakers. On connecting (with a nice new powerlink cable from Steve @ Sounds Heavenly) the MCL2P would switch on with 2 reassuringly B&O clicks and music would flow. However, after 24 seconds (consistently so) the speakers would make a crackling sound and the music would fade away to nothing. The reset button on the front face has no effect. Only disconnecting from the mains will reset this cycle. And again, only 24 seconds of music before I hear crackle and fade to nothing. On insoection, the main PCB looks to be ok. I have freshened up only a few solder joins which were looking dull. on testing this has had no affect on the issue. Should I take out the power coils and have a look around them too? Has anyone else had similar problems with MCL2P units? I’d love to get this one going. Many thanks, Julian
Some further information: I acquired a 2nd MCL2P (this one works) and have found that the LED on the front changes to green when it’s in use. The first unit I bought which doesn’t work only shows a red LED on the front when powered on.
Does this ring any bells with anyone as to which part of the unit might have failed?@Isthatthebeotime I love this thread 🙂 Some of my favourites are in here – I’ll try and find images from some others I’ve noticed over the years…
