Is the volume control done with the Beo4 or at the Lyngdorf level ?
I think the difference is coming from the chassis indeed, maybe different software release? The sync cable is only for volume sync when used in a specific use case: using a Beo4 only and no other B&O hardware.
I experienced the same difference between R and L when I was owning BL5 in a full B&O environment (volume control via a beovision) . After some time I also improved them connecting (in digital) to a Lyngdorf, day and night in term of sound quality, and the difference is gone with it like you are experiencing. Just enjoy them with the Lyngdorf correcting the issue, or ask your dealer to replace the other chassis with the same than the other speakerWith respect to tv/movie watching – let the mic calibration setup do its thing.
…
Of course, you can experiment with including the Theatre for music – but I’m not sure if thats really going to be worth the effort.
Indeed, I do +1 this last sentence: try each config and make your choice. Though my conclusion is different.
Initially I was using only BL28 and BL3 in quadriphony so without the BST to listen to Tidal (installed like this by the B&O technician), and recently I reconfigured the whole thing with Room Sense, keeping the BST. And it is a game changer for me, definitely I do prefer the sound with the BST into the whole setup and using the Music sound mode with True Image. There is no problem to use the Lyngdorf with Beolab 5, I did it many years, it is absolutely transforming the sound coming out from the Beolab 5 after running the RoomPerfect setup, it is really night and day. As long as you don’t use the Speakers output, you only use the PREAMP part of the Lyngdorf.
I don’t have experience connecting them by line in, possibly you will be able to control the volume with the Lyngdorf and power them on. Give it a try and you will see, don’t forget to set the Lyngdorf not full range and start with volume at -50.
But it would really be a pity to not use the full path in digital and use the BL5 internal DAC that is truly excellent. But you will need a Beo4, that’s for sure.
Freshly installed. G3 77″+Theatre and table stand installed on the floor. And BL28 moved from light to dark oak+black fabric. Beolab 3 as rear speakers.
This looks great. I must ask, though, does it sound strange with the Theater so low to the ground relative to the tweeters in the 28s?
Sounding heavenly. My sofa is quite low too. For Music I only use the BL28 and BL3. And I assume the RoomSense calibration is adjusting everything.
I tried to have something reminding BV7-55 + Beolab 7-6 on its low stand in some way. Less magic without the electronic curtain and screen+stand movement, but I am very satisfied with the result

I think (TBC) that we need a passive adapter, meaning without DAC built in. The Apple one is including a DAC. Maybe Steve can clarify this ?
I will have the same issue in a few weeks when my Theatre will be delivered, and I am based outside UK too (BTW Steve, why are you not shipping overseas anymore ??).
I am considering this one that seems to work in analog: https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B076X8W2QR/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3EAOHXRU1PEZY&psc=1
