Quick side note: Theatre just went into update mode and the App told me it was updating to 2.5.3. This is strange as I updated as a beta to 3.5.3 last week??
The App then updated to 4.7
In terms of pre-amps, there are loads on the market. I recently purchased these two items to connect my BG8002 to my Auralic Altair G1 (it has no analogue inputs). It seems to work very well….
and
@etype76 Why should you need a ‘preamplifier’? MM
Bit of a rhetorical non-answer? Unhelpful?
I would imagine that if the deck does not have an internal pre-amp, something is required to a) corrrect the EQ and b) raise the signal to line-level. Or do you propose the Theatre has this internally, or that the customer listens to distorted music at +90 volume?
Good to know
Looks like I got there just in time. LG tried to update today 3.xx.45 I think. And yes, even though you flick off auto update, it does pester on startup.
Im hoping it will be enough to resist LG until either B&O can identify a patch solution or LG re-issue a further stable update?
I’m on 5.2.3 beta, LG G2 on 3.30.16 with no issues.
I suspect, it’s either an LG issue, periphery (Set top) or Mozart periphery?
I’ve disabled my LG update (seems to do this every couple of weeks) until the issue is properly identified.
Move the base equaliser to say -2
Move the speaker level down as much as you can to suit your taste.
I don’t know the effect of redirection level.
sounds like your BL19 is not taking commands from the Theatre if the bass remains too much
Leave the crossover – that will be set at 120hz but I doubt it is your problem?
1. In BeoApp, on the Theatre front page, below listening position
Sound >> Equaliser >> dial down total bass setting.
2. Go to a chosen Listening Position (Video > say)
Open the configuration and find “Speakers >”
Find your BL19 registered, dial-down the dB. This will keep the overal tone but reduce the attenuation, giving a deep but less powerful bass
Hi HPRAS, welcome.
I’ve become very rusty in the art of getting the BS5 directories running “optimally”. I am sure other contributors will come on here and correct me.
First.
The BS5/BM5 can log onto the network via a cable to the router. You will beed a password to logon via the BS5. How to do that I have forgotten (I think a factory reboot and recovery gets you there?). Similarly, once you have your credentials (and again, others can fill in the detail), you can access the BM5 music files via your windows PC File explorer.
Next
The BS5 will be a stickler for metadata. So best buy yourself a good IDTag editor and ensure you cross-reference all the search criterial (and get rid of anything that can cause an unwanted category search). Edit and categorise all your music in your PC. Its faster.
I used the file system “Artist Name – Artist Album” in the music directory and added all the correct IDTagged music files (FLAC) to that directory. This makes the wheel/beam search very fast (to me)
Once complete, copy the whole lot to the BM5 via the network.
Once you get used to the exact procedures, its straight forward to do (if not slow to load).
Thanks for the info.

Vaseline lube is not on the menu and in the same cupboard as is the WD40.
edit. would add that WD40 do do dry silicone lube?

Either it was not well received by the Beta group that received it, or there were other Beo-Products which did not react too well to the new code? I may be wrong here but it may be the re-introduction of the Emerge may have caused the problem?
I think this does warrant a new forum on Beoworld General Forum? It can be relatively complicated and there is a multitude of 3rd party add-ons as well as B&O compliant devices.
I dont think we will be serving ourselves well bolting on a automation topic to a Theatre thread, or other linkable devices?
The new post from B&O Manchester at the Barcelona IES 2023, also highlight potential with the KNX Automation platform as a compliant system.
Maybe the mods can have a think about this?
I dont know. But I have always assumed that the Theatre has zero integration outside of the usual loudspeaker/remote and (almost) headphones.
The BR1 has the placeholders it seems to do more integration but there appears to be very little if any in the BeoApp? I was always under the impression that Khino (£750) and the Pro licence (programming – £650) were what you had to do (BL Gateway now EoL?) to enable other non-B&O home automation.
The Theatre has I am told the latest wheeze – “Matter”, but just like Atmos, it doesn’t seem to support any specific B&O equipment to really build a system with?
However, I tend to agree with Severed hand……, that the following discussion would have a better place in the long ongoing Theatre thread. This is where these things belong in order to be easily searched for. Also there is great danger that small threads will ‘die’ after a while – smaller threads seem to disappear in the myriad of posts here. It is much more likely that the long Theatre thread will continue and this way can be kept at the top of the list of the postings for longer.
As I indicated previously, newbies are coming on to site, have specific questions they want answered and don’t have the time, patience or knowledge to go through nearly a thousand posts. The Search on Beoworlds is not good and big threads are more of a problem in getting information out easily.
I don’t think having a condensed thread for the sake of the “old-hands of the forums” convenience and “cleanliness” is the way to go. Ergo, we also don’t keep to the same standard with other topics whether its a BG4002 or a BL5 or a Beosystem 5000 or whatever.
If I look at the posts in the general Forum over the last 4 days (there was a period of two days with virtually no posts), there are perhaps 30 – 50 posts overall? I think I account for 30-50% of them helping on the theatre the best I can. The forum is not very good traffic-wise (General Forum baseline) and I don’t think that is good for anyone and certainly not for Beoworld.
What may a good half-way house is we have a lot less of members dictating how the forum is managed from their perspective and allow the Moderators to combine threads as the traffic to that smaller thread diminishes?
But lets help people who need or request help. We cant close ourselves off.
I have no further comment to make on this sub-topic in this thread.
cant help with stand or light control. No experience from my side.
Speaker setups.
… >> Product Setting >> Connected Speakers >> WISA and or Powerlink
Then Listening position, Roomsense and microphones
Main Menu, Listening Position >> three bars >> Create New > Start From scratch >> Create >> Follow onscreen instructions.
when you select a source, pressing LIST (not TV LIST – which is what I thought you meant originally), those buttons are not editable but flag-up depending on source. So if you have like I do, 5 Listening positions:- video, Centre Only, BL90 wide, Narrow, Omni), those will come under “speaker>” and selectable in alphabetical order.
I would have thought (but cannot test) that Stand positions comes up on the main page of the App below listening position? Changing stand position is then programmed like “Listening Position”.
I think that’s as far as I can take this enquiry due to my setup limitations but will help further if I can?
It’s not a bug……it’s a feature
Ok,
… >> product settings >> source startup >> select source behaviour and toggle “include in list”
then
… >> product settings >> remote >> select remote >> remote list, slide sources up and down in order of preference.
to slide, long press and hold in the middle of the grey bar until it moves, slide in to position
