Here is what it looks like. I installed a micro switch 220v 10 amp on the steel plate below the switch actuated by the plunger that actuated the original switch, sorry no pics of that20180319_144838 (2021_01_16 19_18_46 UTC)

I would start looking at the phono and tape preamp, Do the FM presets work OK

Checked the manual, you should be able to make one yourself its simple but considering the weight and that plastic over years gets brittle I wouldn’t trust the small pegs on the bottom cover of the 1200

These failures are difficult to find, one are always looking for component failures and at last it turns out to be something simple you dont think about, (except for Martin who have seen it all) good job, jeg er ekkoet

Here the text from this thread https://archivedforum2.beoworld.co.uk/forums/t/14600.aspx?PageIndex=1 Of what I did.

While I had all the sanding utensils out and ready, I started on the ugly acrylic cover, I placed it on a sturdy cardboard box that nearly fit into the cover Bad idea as I sanded with 30 micron the cardboard damaged the inside of the cover, I had to cover the box with a cotton rag, and later sand the inside with 15 micron and so on), I then wet sanded with a 30 micron sheet, parallel to the long side until the deep scratches was gone, the most difficult was the damage you can see in the first pics. I then went to 15 micron sanding parallel to the short side until all the grains from the 30 micron was gone, then down to 9 micron, long side, until all then grain from 15 micron was gone, then down to 3 micron, short side, I now had like a haze on the acrylic, not quite clear, I then took to Novus No. 2 scratch remover, and that did it. With 25°C in the garage this was a boot camp, 2 hours hard work, sweating like after a 5 Km run. I have some more covers where I tried with Novus No. 3 and 2 and 1, It didnt turn out as well as this one.

I made copy pegs in my lathe, leveled the base, the pegs made with bigger “foot” and glued them to the base, will go and look for the speaker in my dungeon, if found I will post a pick

Find a wall plug correct diameter and cut length to size, glue on with good epoxy. Clean and even base before gluing Untitled 1

All these melodies brings back sweet memories from my childhood. I am born 1950, my first memories is beginning mid to end of the 50es, one of these is Sunday 12:00 noon, you wish we play, the Sunday Concert named Giro 413, giro 413 was a postal account number where you could pay money to help poor children and Red Cross and the like. We ( my family) had every Sunday 12:00 noon, family dinner as obligation, at the same time the radio was turned on to listen to Giro 413, every Sunday, the program lasted 2 hours and after that the radio was turned off again and only turned on for the news at 6 o’clock pm. every day. 1950 in DK there was only one radio canal, this changed with the years and today there are several, but Giro 413 has been going strong from 1946 until today the postal account number still exist as 01700413, but also internet pays and cell phone pay are possible. You can listen to it on DR.DK canal 5, I dont know the time of the broadcast you will have to check that yourself . Thank you Martin

I have restored various BGs from BG 1000 to BG 4002 and BG 5000. From a mechanical point of view I recommend the BG 5000, I bought that one 12 years ago, opened it up and cleaned and lubricated it, checked all adjustment and it has been my daily used BG nearly ever since. IMO the best build BG I have come across, build like a tractor. I use a MMC 2 on it. The difference to a MMC 4 is clearly hear able. Its the only BG I have had that I could store for a couple of years, take it out. connect it and run it without any problems.
