        Yes pictures are available luckily.

The laser cleaning must be deep cleaning, meaning involving a full disassembly.

Cd clamper belt. Easy to diagnose, just remove the back.

Laser eye to be cleaned/replaced. Common fault.

Tape belt, common fault again. Full tutorial on the old forum, unfortunately with pictures missing. 2 hours work and quite an adventure but pretty sure that’s the fault (three Ouvertures, three time the problem).

When the Tim question will be completely answered could someone elaborate on this:

The BeoSound Stage is not powerful enough for music.

I mean at what level has someone to listen music for the stage not to be powerful enough?
And is/are Beosound Balance that much more powerful than a Stage?

            Thanks.

Thank you both. I will have a go at opening it next weekend. Do you know a good source for replacement foam? The ones I have found so far are pretty pricey. I am UK based.

For once, the best source is B&O. The original Foam replacement are like 10€ the set per speaker. I believe UK dealers are more flexible but if I’m wrong and they are like ours here in France, you may have to fight a little to have them order the parts. But parts are available and it don’t worth the hassle to try DIY or anything alike.

                  Paypal… Pros and Cons…

Sometimes it works at it should: safe payment, peace of mind, safety.
Sometimes it don’t. With times, people who want to fraud, fraud! They have understood that all you need to win the case is a return tracking number even if they actually returned whatever crap in the box.

I dot wanna even elaborate on what I don’t know but, would it be possible that the algorithms were something like “refund little money to keep the safety feeling, don’t refund big money because it’s not interesting financially speaking”? I don’t know.

There is countless stories o PayPal here on BW. I remember our valuable member Dillen having a lot of troubles with PayPal because of bad buyers that caused him to not use PayPal anymore. In the other hand, as a buyer, I feel safe to use PayPal because the possibility of a case just exists and it doesn’t with any other paying method. And this, even if the confusion may not be in my favor.

I “subscribe” to paypal, long ago, just because I did not want to give my credit card number to eBay. Since then, PayPal has refund me a lot of non delivered items. and even if today, undelivered eBay items find arrangement with the seller directly (because they don’t want a bad review) the original reason is still there.

So in a nutshell: When you’re a seller you may don’t like PayPal because if the buyer is a gangster you know he has ways of legally hustling you.

When you’re a buyer you may don’t like PayPal because you know sellers have ways to dismiss PayPal cases even if they are gansters.

But all in all, PayPal is what it is and, to me, still better than direct CC number.

                      Hi Xavier,

Very nice work, the kind I like! Thank you for sharing the detailed process.

because you seems to know a lot about, would it be possible you make for us a little pensum explaining what iPad wit what OS would work with pros and cons ( even theoretically). I know it could be a lot of work but I’m sure it could help people make the right decision when buying second hand iPads.
                      thank you.

Honestly, how many of us, of you, would buy a brand new Beogram inbox, with full warranty ans panels stickers?

I mean aren’t we praising those beogram, appart that they’re beautiful, because we save them from a certain death, because we like to repair them, adjust them, fight with them to bring them to work?

If you, like me think the same, who cares they sell very expensive ones to whealthy people?
If in the end a refurbished, painted like a stolen car 2020 beogram 4002 value increases, where will be the value of my trully original 1972 BG? A fraction of it maybe but still something. And even then, would I depart from it?

                          Anyway, two things, two audiences.

The anodising of the alu-parts is in this colour-combo is bordering on vulgar.

                            I Agree…

                            Again, I agree…

I can’t agree more (only smart move was the MoonSwatch)…

Appart from this, I must say I don’t really care. That kind of things, relayed by fancy magazines and instagram post make just raise our Beogram 4002 value (happy when you own it, less when your look for one, but, hey…).

Now, whoever want a beosystem like that one but with more peaceful or classic color palette can make it’s own, to his tastes, with the money he has : from my poor Beocenter 72-97, to an old but B&O refurbished BG4002 paired with any Beolab speaker and any high-end RIAA pre-amp. Thank you B&O for giving us the idea of that setup.

That said, the real shame of it is the color… Awfull.

Zut, not a good news, I used to believe the deep cleaning was a forever cure.

I remember it was a thread on the old forum about, I don’t know, reflowing some connections or maybe replacing one or to capacitors, in a nutshell another path out from the usual “just replace the lens”.

I WANT to believe that lasers last forever and ore not just 5 years life long components.

So it’s basically an 130€ Ikea Symphonisk shelf speaker guts connected to the Beolab 4000 drivers?

Hi, welcome to Beoworld and thank you for taking care of asking.

Actually the rule is “paying members – Silver and Gold – are allowed to post in private ads.”

The recent makeover of the forum, due to numerous reasons, leading to a lot of work of good-willing people as made the “lock” to this rule not working.

So if you post, it will work and people will see your ad. and no (trustfull) buyer here will refuse to save a good piece from the trash or get a very desired item from a (supposed) trustfull seller and your deal will happen.

But if you sell your things through Beoworld, please just consider making a donation or enrolling for a membership, just as a “thank you”.

Of course, if the items you want to sell have nothing to do with the BOU (Bang & Olufsen Universe), moderators will remove your add.

                                    Truth to be told.

I vaguely remember you can buy spares cells and rebuilt the battery by yourself.
Of course it implies still having the original battery.

Also, I don’t know if there is any electronics inside the battery. If not, maybe just adding cells and make them fit inside the battery space would be enough.

But I’ve been through a lot of trouble replacing battery cells in B&O equipment, namely Beo6, so I wouldn’t be surprised if doing all by the book would still not work.

                                          Hi Alls,

Two day to cool down and I’m back. To make things easy allow me a little background:

Three remotes, one gold and two silver.

The gold one is (was) the main and central command of the living space. Use to work normally since many years now after a change of cells in the original battery pack. It had a problem last week and after opening it, it won’t hold the charge at all when before it did many hours. After a little bit of filling the remote won’t power at all.

One silver, seems to work normally but won’t and never had hold the charge, Battery pack is the original. Problem is it don’t hold the charge with any BP.

Second silver has never hold the charge including with a fresh BP made of the same cells that Gold one. That one I won’t mention it anymore. Just to say that even with fresh BP it dont last more than few seconds when not docked.

Losing the Gold one really did p*** me a lot. To day I went back and discovered the the BP I was using was wrongly wired after wiring it correctly I was able to update it with CT and its back to life.

The wiring should be as follow:

Red wire = positive from the battery -> goes straight to the connector.
Black wire = negative from the battery -> goes straight to the connector.
Thermal protection = one leg to the negative of the battery and the other straight to the connector through the white wire.

Thermal protection is a temperature sensitive resistor. Value seems to be around 40kOhms (one measured @ 39K, the other @ 43K) at ambient temperature. When temperature increases, resistance decreases (with the simple pinch of the fingers.

Now I need to find a procedure to check carefully what cells are good and which one looks good but are not.

After that I should be able to resume my experiment with AAA batteries.

(People have helped me in the background, I thank them. A lot!)

Hi, I’ve no part number to give you but I’ve sucesfully swapped a CD block from a BS3000 MK1 et BS9000 MK3. You may find the reference you’re looking for by searching for “Beosound 9000 laser” on BEoworld II (link in the menubar).

It seems that laser is quit difficut to source but not impossible. B&O may also afew still few of them but at crazy prices.

Nevertheless, unless you know something about the fail (like having drop a coffee on the head or something similar!) chances are you just need a deep clean of the lens. It involves dimantling the laser lens and cleaning it inside-out. There again you should find a link to the youtube video on this forum.

                                            Good luck.
