I did remember that Guy told me the wiring for my MCL2A IR eye is not the same. So I used his advice: the IR eye shows the red light and react to the remote commands (other led blinking) but doesn’t pass commands to the Beoport. LP2 also doesn’t deter the eye.
I also had some cases where closing LP2 starting BM link and using that, then closing it and starting LP2 would help get things going. Havent seen a pattern in when what helps yet though.
I’ll try that.
IR Eye disconnected, Beolab back, still nothing
If I press N.Source it displays it for 1 second on the BL3500 screen and the speaker turns itself off immediately.I have tried also LP1 that clearly allows to put the PC2 in OPT.0 (Same configuration as with the 1611, I guess) but also nothing at all.
I’ve used this for the IR eye wiring. Its a square IR eye (MCL I think) that works with the Beolink Passive. Anyway, I’d like to use it without IR eye, through the 3500 IR receiver…
Thanks Madskp.
Tried to wire up an IR receiver but it does nothing and LP2 not even detects it.
Had to dig out a Beo4 with N.things.
Trying up now.
First try:
Beoport connected to the computer in USB and Mac Audio Out to Beoport Audio In.
Bl3500 (Opt 6) connected to Beoport via Masterlink.
The Mac is declared as Audiomaster in LP2.
The Beoport seems to be seen because the windows says SW 1.3.
Also the volume indicator from LP2 change when you turn it up or down. But no sound, no reaction from the BL3500. No clock either.
I’m soldering a mini jack to an IR receiver to see if it changes something.

Hi, I’m not dutch but can still answer 😀
A friend of mine ordered surrounds delivered to my house.
But he misspelled the address and the parcel get lost.
Audiofriends, while knowing it was an error from our side, sent the order another time to the right address, at no cost, not even shipping fee.I doubt they tricked you.
Here his the email address I have: webshop@repairyourspeakers.com
Please let us know.
@matador Wouldn’t it be better looking if you also design/print (with black PLA/PETG/ABS) the top panel instead of using piece of black cardboard cut to shape?Yes it maybe would be. The thing is I dont undertsand anything in PLA/PETG/… plastics and I rely on an remote 16, hormonal dependent teenager for the printings. Then as soon as the wood grills were on the speakers I stopped research!
The small clamper version is shinny and the big clamper is mat.
EDIT: unless you replace the whole fascia, sorry.
Thank you drmichi for showing us your work.
Nice shade of wood and beautiful Beocorner you have there.Enjoy.
thus flashing light reflections from the surface (depending on CD artwork), and therefore risks triggering epileptic fits?
I think I’ve read somewhere that it was for safety reasons because the spinning disc was too exposed to Beochild fingers.
the machines with the small clamper had a curved track for the laser, whereas the machines with the big clamper had a straight track.
I believe that the curved tracks laser mechanisms are more reliable.
In all cases a deep cleaning of the eye (lens up, lens down and mirror) should bring back your laser far more often we believe. I’ve cleaned last month the one I took out of a BS9000 MK2 three years ago an it is now spinning perfectly well.Is Type 2671 ok, or should it be avoided as it seems to be the first type for BS3000.
This is to be confirmed by a more expert member but, I have and have seen many, many Beosound 3000 with fried eprom or IC or whatever is called that chip. It dies and your Beosound just become a brick with a red dot, doors that open and close and thats it.
Most of them (and mine) had the small clamper but I dont know if it’s really related to this.
A guy nearby claims to sell eeproms for repair but I wont play with this.Mine was pristine and now houses the guts of a Beocenter 2300. Happily!
German film “Das Haus”, where the BLI turns up against his owner…
Four buttons: Light, Audio, Video and “all” in the center.
You press to turn on TV, Radio or Lights and long press ton turn them off.
Long press in the center turn off everything. The idea behind the A9 Keyholder was that when your leave your Beohome, you longpress the key holder and it shuts down all your stuff.
No volume control, hence my comment on background listening…
I’m reading carefully.
Looks like we’re gonna write the next B&O related book: “B&O black boxes mysteries revealed”. 🙂
You literally take the words out of my mouth! Yes.
In background music listening scenarios, where volumes are set, this is the perfect… Key!
I already figured out that connecting a USB charger to the BP’s USB port doesn’t work.
Hi alls, sorry to break in. You know one thing leading to another… Here I am…
Xavier, one thing leading to another, there is this thing: an old audio interface that is meant to be used with a computer but drivers get outdated and the interface became useless. Until a guy found a trick to make it believe it is connected to a computer.
I wonder if there is the same chip into the Beoport and/or this can be an inspiration?
Thanks for the clarification. Looks like I need to talk to somebody who said:
“1611 where replaced by 1636, same with added features”…. 😀The PC input worked fine using pins 2, 4, and 7 for Left, Right and Gnd respectively. I could select using ‘PC’ on Beo4 and it worked as a local source…
Hi Guy. Does it means it work the same way the 1611 converter but just limited to the PC input ? (meaning, remote control working to start the speaker, set volume and adjust sound parameters, all through the Link Speaker sensor only.)
…but as soon as I disconnected the ML it stopped working – so there is no simple BL Active standalone option.
Why would you disconnect ML since it’s the only way to drive a Link Speaker?
