I’va done some reading i the linkplayer threads in the old forums, and this page has a lot of explanation on how things are supposed to work

Sorry Mad, didnt see that one at first. Thanks. After four years collecting B&O stuff from Beograms to Beomasters, Beocords to Beosounds, Beoplay to bottle openers and minicars, Beolabs to Beovoxs, this where I’m congratulated two times in a week for being those black boxes!
This is Beoworld…it might also be the items that gives you the most headaches ?
have you tried the Beoport stand alone with the computer?
Not yet. But do you mean with Powerlink speakers or alone with earphones?
earphones also, just to rule out ML problems and focus on software issues
Also we might be able to find some info regarding stability on one of the old forums. I seem to remember long feedback threads
I guess the LP2 volume only reflects the PL connector on the Beoport box. You should probably still think of it as 2 rooms in ML terminology.
the unstabilities you mention sound a lot like what I experieced. I havent had luck masterlinking mine yet though. Gotta try with the windows software one day.
have you tried the Beoport stand alone with the computer?
I also had some cases where closing LP2 starting BM link and using that, then closing it and starting LP2 would help get things going. Havent seen a pattern in when what helps yet though
And one more thing. I messed a lot with volume setting. Be sure that the macs volume is turned up

Bl3500 (Opt 6) connected to Beoport via Masterlink. The Mac is declared as Audiomaster in LP2. The Beoport seems to be seen because the windows says SW 1.3. Also the volume indicator from LP2 change when you turn it up or down. But no sound, no reaction from the BL3500. No clock either. I’m soldering a mini jack to an IR receiver to see if it changes something.
do the BL3500 react to n.radio or n.music commands?what about the Beoport SW version? Mine is 1.31 which i think is the latest?- When I work in the office and press “A.MEM”, then the BS3200 display shows the hard disk content and it starts spinning but I hear sound from SD-Card in the room.

It sounds like the BS3200 is reacting right and start up with the local source which it should when you are not using link commands.
But do the Beovision have the right option programming? I can’t tell from the drawing which TV is the Video master? It could be this TV, and therefore it might be programmed with option 1, and therefor starts playing the music from the Audiomaster (the Beosound 4) because of this option programming, while the BS3200 thinking it’s a local source starts it’s own sources.
According to the Masterlink handbook in this combination both the Beosound and the TV should be programmed with option 5
I am not sure if you the have to change the option programming one of the other TV’s to make it the video master, but maybe someone can chime in on that?
I got a little time to do some more testing, and I couldn’t let go of how to make use of the powerlink connector on the 1611.
Here is what I tried:
I made a special Y cable from the powerlink out of a Beoport (Beoport not connected to ML). Pin 2, 3 and 5 from Beoport PL directed to pin 2, 4 and 1 on the AAL connector of the 1611. Pin 2 and 4 from the Beoport PL to pin 2 and 4 on the 1611’s PL connector.
The 1611 connected with ML to BC6.
The result almost the same as when I injected 3V to the PL connector in the 1611. The BC6 turns on on an Audio connection when the Beoport starts. The TV doesn’t turn off or change input when the Beoport software is closed og the Beoports power is removed.
In conclusion, nothing new regarding this, but at least it has now been tested. It might be that it will only work in combination with datalink signals on pin 6 of the AAL conenctor.
Please give input if you have some ideas for other variants of this test as I now has this special Y-cable until I need the parts for another adapter.

if the volume levels are set correct for the speaker volume control could then be done from the connected Phone/streamer etc. I guess
Just a thought – this device is now actually quite useful with the ‘dual-source’ BL1611/BL3500 combo!
how does that work? Is it just activating the audio or the video source? Guess there are not many control options
The Beolink PC Office and Beolink Active type number 1636 to 1639 inclusive are exactly the same hardware box. Beolink PC Office Type number 1640, 1647, 1648 , 1649, 1668 and 1669 is the Beolink Active above with the PC office software.

I would think that the extra pins in the PC socket actually gave this Beolink PC Office all the functionality of being connected to ML (and PL), without being connected to ML (or PL)! Clearly none of this was needed when the Beolink PC2 was introduced with its own ML/PL sockets. EDIT: This from the Beolink PC Office User Manual – it’s the box nearest the computer:

ok researched a little more and the picture on this site tell that Beolink Active 1636 was there at the same time as the first PC office.
The original Beolink active may only have been availeble for a few years then

sometimes I miss a printed date in those manualsThanks for the clarification. Looks like I need to talk to somebody who said: “1611 where replaced by 1636, same with added features”….
But think about the combination of 1611,1636 and a pair of speakers will give you three easy remote controlable sources (Audio, video and PC).
nearly the dream scenario for the BL3500
has there been different versions of this product?
Type 1616 (and 1618 for USA) is the first version with 2 x PL output sockets – that is the service manual that is in the Service Manual database. Type 1636 is the later model with one of the PL sockets replaced with a PC input socket. I think that this version was introduced as the Beoport was phased out, hence the naming of the input. The input pins are definitely 4, 2 and 7 – I have it playing at the moment. The connections are mentioned in the Beolink handbook on page 116: (although it states to use the shield as ground – I used pin 7 as shown in some of Peter Pan’s diagrams)
Ok that makes sense. Odd that the pin configuration on this input has to be special, but maybe a way for B&O to reuse the PCB’s in the box without to much changes
I entered a few final notes (in blue) about my attempts to trigger BL3500 using 5v into the MCL socket
One more thought regarding this test. In this thread https://beoworld.dev.idslogic.net/forums/topic/beolab-3500-how-to-fix-ml-input-selection/#post-13452 where Matador got the info about the trigger Pin assignments it was pin 1 and 7.
This would make little sense for powerlink where Pin 1 is power up and pin 7 is data ground.
But for the MCL connctor that it must be for the confirmed working unit with the low serial number and old software version it makes not as much sense as pin 1 is signal left and pin 7 is data shield (ground).
What if this Curios Dreamer misinterperted the pin numbers and had reversed them? Then it Would be pin 3 Ground left channel and pin 6 Datalink which would make more sense in my head. Note that Pin 3 ground is not directly connected to ground but through a resistor and a capacitor, so not quite the same as pin 7.
Don’t know if you already tried that combination Guy or are willing to try it, but here is the idea
