      Goos morning.

Yes, it was available along with the MX-5000 television (followed by the MX-5500). I still have mine but it is not functional. I have to finish the capacitor replacement when I have time (not a priority). I used it a lot with the TV but it was plagued with the bad capacitor problem described above. Super VHS was a definite improvement over VHS.

      Regards,

      Jean

Does your computer has a HDMI output ? I would connect the Beosystem 3 to it. I would also connect one of your screens to the Beosystem 3 video output to see if the picture is in sync with the sound. This is how the processor was intended to be used. A few video frames are buffered by the video processor to allow video corrections to be made (upscaling, de-interlacing, etc). I remember that the last Beosystems 3 had a game mode. Check also this.

        Good luck,

        Jean

I would ask a B&O technician to come and inspect the set to diagnose the problem properly.

Perhaps this is just the video engine that failed. This will be an expensive repair but this is better than to have to discard the television.

          Good luck,

          Jean

Also, commercial HDR or Dolby Vision broadcasts from streaming services are all in 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. 4:4:4 is only from feeds from computers and gaming consoles.

Is deep color selected in either the Theatre or the LG screen for that HDMI input ?

Otherwise, only 8-bit video is possible.

                Could you try the following:

Go to the Beosystem 3 customer service menu (the one accessible by the red arrow in the Beo 4: MENU , then move the cursor to Options, then red arrow and GO) , then to screen configuration. Set the screen type to generic and output resolution to 1920X1080. Try it first this way. If the synchronization is not correct, change the framelock setting.

When I repaired my Beovision 7 (which has a Beosystem 3 inside), I was able to check the video engine by connecting a computer screen to it with the second DVI output and it worked fine for an indefinite period of time. But the output resolution must be forced to 1920X1080.

So first check the screen settings in the menus before ordering an EDID emulator.

                Good luck,

                Jean

Vertical lines ? Then it is not the backlight system . It may be the video engine or the T-Con board. The service manual has fault finding flowcharts.

But, can B&O service the set ? If spare parts are still available, then it is the solution, although possibly expensive.

                  Good luck,

                  Jean

There is a service manual for the Beovision 11-55 in the technical section of Beoworld that explains how to disassemble the set. The B&O service procedure is to replace the entire LCD panel if the LED strips are defective.

                    Good luck,

                    Jean

Sincere condolences to Peter’s family. This is sad news. Yes, his diagrams were very explicative. He was also quite active in the recordere.dk forum (I don’t read Danish, but I used Google translate to follow his quite colorful discussions).

By the way, I still have my BV7-MkIII, which is now in a bedroom. The set had developed a backlight problem (picture went off after 30 minutes) and tuner issue (required to “warm up” before working), but thanks to a donor set that was kindly given to me by my dealer, I was able to fix it. I will eventually post pictures and details in the workbench sub forum.

Again, sincere condolences to Peter’s family

                      Regards,

                      Jean

                        I will reply in English.

The 8 pin DIN socket behaves exactly as a Bang & Olufsen Powerlink connection:

                        https://www.beoworld.co.uk/beotech/wiring2.htm

So your device has to issue a preamp out audio signal as well as a trigger voltage to turn the amplifier on and off.

The A102 was designed to connect passive speakers to a Bang & Olufsen product that expected active speakers. It therefore mimics a pair of B&O active speakers such as two Beolabs 8000. The volume control has to be provided by the preamp.

I still have mine and it works with my Beovision Eclpse perfectly. I used it previously with a Beovision 7 (now relocated in a bedroom).

                        Good luck,

                        Jean

Backporting the feature to the first generation Eclipse would be interesting also, even if it is unlikely that B&O will do the effort. A way to turn the feature on and off is however required to avoid burn-in on the OLED screen.

The current way now is to look at the app.

One thing to add is that the Beoremote I software is also updated automatically once the TV update is finished.

There are two update menus, one for the screen and the other for the sound center. You have to go to the sound center menu (the bottom one) to get the update. The one for the screen shows the version as 3.60.60

Unfortunately, Disney doesn’t consider the first generation Eclipse as a LG branded set and refuses to provide the app. Possibly B&O would have to pay a license to Disney to have the app provided.

If you want the app, you will have to buy an Apple TV and run it from that device.

                                    Congratulations!

It is a good thing that we are able to repair our TVs even if they are “officially” too old. Having to discard an expensive and beautiful TV because of a small capacitor is ridiculous.

To find the exact capacitance of the cap, the only way would be to remove it on a working board, measure it, and put in back in place. Perhaps also there is a schematic of the T-CON board somewhere.

                                      I will answer in English

First, find the LCD panel model on the sticker. Then, do a search on the Internet to find if a replacement T-CON board can be found for that model.

Repairs at the component level on this board are difficult without a schematic if the damaged part can’t be identified visually.

                                      Good luck.

I have just upgraded to version 4.1.2 and the bug that causes interruption in audio streaming (either Chromecast or Airplay) when starting the app is still not fixed.

https://bangolufsenassistentgohe.blob.core.windows.net/manuals/TELEVISIONS/BEOVISION_11_WITH_BEO4/en-1310-en-beovision-11-eu-web.pdf Here are the manual – can you find where it is? Would be very nice, thank you. ?

I just checked, and unfortunately picture in picture doesn’t work with two HDMI sources.

                                          From page 28:

There are some limitations when using the Picture-and-Picture (P-AND-P) function since some source combinations may not be possible. For example, you cannot watch two HDMI sources or two coded channels at the same time. When an invalid combination is selected, an on- screen message appears on the television screen.”

It was possible on a Beovision 7 using the Beosystem 3 platform, but that functionality was dropped for the Beovision 11.

The valid combinations are described in the user manual. If you have lost yours, the B&O website should still have a downloadable copy.

                                            Good luck,
