      I’ve checked the connectors and two glass fuses I found but all appear to be correctly fitted and working.

        Could a wiring connector misplaced cause the whole system to crash as opposed to just the cassette player? I’m getting no display lights at all nor any functionality from buttons.

        You’ve raised some good ideas though and I think I’ll lift the covers again and check the loom connections with the early photos.

            I’ve sorted this thanks. I discovered that the record deck also lifts up from the rear which allows the cassette looms to be unplugged and thence the cassette deck removed for servicing.
