Aha, digging further looks like the gunk is probably lubrication from the hinge for the aluminium lid. That’s not working/dampened quite as it should be, but working good enough for my purposes so don’t want to poke around too much there; likely a red herring
Well got the thing open and found it remarkably clean inside dust wise, though there was a somewhat sticky area on the left side looking back to front. Gave it a brush and hoover inside, and everything seems to work flawlessly except for that tiny Tape 2 bleed issue. Sounds pretty good too!
Does the slight sticky gunk covered area give anybody any clues?
Thanks so much, very kind!
I actually have the circuit board layout from the non-user manual, mais en Francais! Might as well be Chinese frankly ftho, for all the sense I can make of it 🙂
Will try to have a pole around tomorrow, and in the meantime any tips still gratefully appreciated!
Many thanks!
Thanks very much for your reply, Guy, that’s good info! Dad been looking for the pin wiring info and after my searches came up blank I ended up buying a 5 pin male to dual female phonos lead.
Unfortunately the input signal seems strong so unlikely there is a wiring issue.
And also found the 7002 manual now – thanks again! Had been pressing buttons a little haphazardly but that now suggests Tape + P1 to activate Aux; unless anybody knows of a key combination wrinkle on the 7000 I guess the problem must be on the inside? Anybody have any clues? Or even a basic instruction for how to open the thing up? 😮
Again many thanks for any help!
