      OK! The cable was the problem. It was an output cable not input. I soldered the wires to the opposite pins and it works as it should.
      also, I followed the instructions for the List button and that worked too. Oddly the A.Mem button on longer shows A.Aux, it now shows A.Tape. Any tips on how to change this?

      Thanks, by the way, for being a great resource! I live in the desert area of central British Columbia in Canada, where no-one has even heard of this equipment, so to have access to an international team of experts from multiple time zones is pretty nice

        Looks like the one I have is reversed, the active pins should be on the left. I will source another and try it.

            Hmm. The cord may still be the problem. (I am not an electronics guy so everything i know about it should be double checked!)

            I bought a female rca to male din cord online. I found a din wiring schematic online to test when it did not work. Maybe it’s backwards?

            When looking at the end of the male din plug, divot down, are pins 3 & 5 on the left or the right? The cord I have has them on the right
