I see new Theatre software is available for a non-beta like me. Busy at the minute but will check it out at the weekend.

I think your cables might be good then if they’re already RCA, I know the TX is newer than my models. I misunderstood your first post when you said you got one you meant TX not a preamp. But yes, you’ll need a phono preamp. There are many on the market. Project do them, Ortofon, I have a Creek OBH-15. There are more reasonable ones too on Amazon or such.

What “preamp” do you have exactly? And where are you connecting it on the tube amp? I’ve never had an issue with getting my Beogram 8000/8002 to work with various setups.

I have the din cable from my Beogram to a din>RCA adaptor which goes into the input on the PHONO Preamplifier then RCA output to my amplifier. Are you sure that you are using a phono preamplifier? As that is not the same as a preamplifier. Sorry if I’m being obvious, I don’t know how deep you are into the Beogram/vinyl world!

(The m3 Millemissen’s great idea!) The M3 is wired to the home network and I use Beolink multiroom to play the record player

Actually the idea came from Henrik of the BOTF – maybe he even had it from a member of the BOTF. So kudos goes to Henrik….I was just the messenger.

Well then, credit to Henrik too. I guess the OP wouldn’t need the m3 with a Beosound 2? What I would say, yes get a decent phono preamp. I know there are a lot of differing thoughts here and I guess it depends how much vinyl you listen to but a link to a $60 Amazon phono preamp wouldn’t cut it for me and I’ve noticed big improvements on good line-in cable and a solid preamp.

I didn’t get much difference when I switched between line-in sensitivity so I stuck with ‘medium’.
For pure audio, you’d be better going the 28s route. I went with the Theatre and have a couple of BL3s as rears. It took me a long time to get a sound I liked from my Beogram record player with this setup and it is still a work in progress really.
I have the Beogram (no internal phono preamp) connected to an external phono preamp, then a 1 meter decent RCA to mini Jack cable to a Beoplay M3 with volume set to 0. (The m3 Millemissen’s great idea!) The M3 is wired to the home network and I use Beolink multiroom to play the record player through Theatre and sometimes just BL3s as I can assign speaker groups. I use BR One for volume, and Join function for multiroom.
alternatively I could use 12m of line-in cable to the Theatre but when I tried that, did not sound good.

The specs seem great and I like the dark oak. I am just struggling to see where this fits into the product line or what need it is actually fulfilling. There is the level, Balance, Beolit, Beosound 2. It’s not for me anyway.

Thanks, I recall that in the manual but I always thought that MK2 was compatible with everything and being the thicker type was less susceptible to noise.

This is the B&O one I ordered from the dealer. Works fine. Can your dealer not order you one?

etype76 wrote: ‘I mean BG>phono preamp > preamplifier>theatre’ If there already is a ‘phono preamp’, there will be no need for further preamping. That is the way any BG must be setup to a line-input. I was just curious, if etype76 wanted something extra to manipulate the signal – some people want to add tube preamps and alike, when they want to listen to vinyl. MM

yes, this what I am thinking; a tube preamplifier for the phono preamp and, say, a CD player in the future.

                          Hi all,

if I wanted to add a preamplifier to my Beogram with the existing connected phono preamp to Theatre, is this possible? I mean BG>phono preamp > preamplifier>theatre.

                          thx

I’m on 2.3.4 with a pair of 3s connected via PL. I haven’t had any dropped speakers or rebooting issues so far. Weird. Hope those who do get it sorted soon.

Ya just 4 pieces and a tool to change a battery. Must better than a USB C port that is in every house already.

For me, yes. Id rather change the batteries every 3 months or so than charge it every week.

I’m new to the BR1 too and have yet to see the initial Varta batteries die. They were fairly simple to install. TBH I just buy a pack of Duracell ultra from Costco and I’m glad there’s no charger, cables, connectors or other broccoli (unnecessary paraphernalia) with the remote.

I enjoyed this. As a Beogram lover, jealous of the black 7000. Made me laugh the 4000 tucked under the coffee table. Yes, space tends to be an issue .

I get it now. I just started all over again and see the + sign. It’s late so I’ll sort it out tomorrow. Thx Mr. 10 percent for pointing me in the right direction. 🙂

The Theatre will recognise the number of powerlink connections connected. In my example, I have 4 “+”. If only connecting a single pair of BL3 with a splitter, you will show only 1 “+”. Press the +, add a speaker. Press the new +! Add second speaker then follow instructions to set channels (music plays in each speaker), the follow room sense

What screen is that? I don’t get any “+”. Even when I go to product settings>connected speakers.

Attempting to connect 2 Beolab 3s to the theatre as rears (left and right back). I am using mkII Powerlink cables going into a Rj45 splitter into PL1 socket on the Theatre. When I add the speakers it seems the theatre only thinks there is one. I thought one PL socket accommodated 2 speakers? I get sound from both but when I assign roles, I can only choose left or right. Do I have to now buy another Rj45 adapter and have one speaker going into PL2 then?

                                        cheers

Quite an impassioned thread I inadvertently started.

I thought I should give an update. In the end, I went for the Beoremote one. It fits my relatively simple setup of Theatre for TV and music. I also didn’t fancy having another device that needs to be frequently charged. I am still waiting on it as I ordered it on Dec 23. Perhaps in a future home I’ll have the BLI and make way for a Halo but until then…

B&O need to capitalise on sales by introducing a small compact, powerful and flexible loudspeaker for Theatre surrounds. The Celestial is to much of a major install in my opinion.

I would agree. If there had been something in their current line I would have gone for it but instead I am taking delivery of a pair of Beolab 3s for that purpose. Even if they get Mozart working with the Theatre for surrounds, I don’t particularly want a pair of levels as rears. I would bet they are working on something.

I know my dealer has been very busy and I hope it is with the Theatre.
