Does anyone use the ethernet ports with gigabit speed internet?

I have gigabit fibre at home and connect the theatre direct to the router, then connect my Apple TV and xbox to the theatre. Download speeds drop to 500mb when going via the theatre, but connect them directly to the router and it is 900+ as expected. The tech specs say the ports are gigabit ethernet ports but the speeds don’t match this.

I replaced all the cables to see if it was this and there has been no change.

I have disconnection problems with my Beolab 18s – it will forget one of them (not the same one) and I have to add it back via the app. B&O suggested it was my wifi that was causing this and I should stop using 5ghz devices in the home, which isn’t possible

On the “will DTS be added?” question, my previous soundbar (Sony HT-ST5000) it shipped with only Dolby Atmos capability but a software update after a few months enabled DTS support. Not saying the same will occur with the Theatre but it appears possible as software rather than a hardware addition.

I think it is marginal (I use a Sony OLED and have compared). The thing I prefer is the integration that Apple TV has vs individual apps. I stream everything on my TV as we went satellite free 18 months ago. I can watch a programme on iPlayer for example and on the Apple TV this appears in the “up next” list – using the built in app on the TV if I click on this it opens the page up and says where I can view it, so I then have to open the built in iPlayer app on the TV and manually select it. On the Apple TV I just click on the programme in up next and it automatically opens the iPlayer app in the Apple TV an plays straight away.

Does anyone know if it is possible to set a volume level when changing source? I know there is the default volume setting when you turn it on, but I would like to have different levels when I change to the various HDMI ports

Picked my 18s up this morning.

A few setup issues, the app recognised them but the speaker calibration for the listening position kept failing. Repeated a number of times with no luck. Eventually tried doing the calibration with just one of the 18s selected and this seemed to solve the issue.

Had a play with a couple of films (top gun maverick, no time to die) and the Atmos demo from the Dolby app on the Apple TV. Rears make a difference to the sound experience as you would expect (and hope given the money spent). It feels a much more immersive sound, not that the Theatre does not provide this on its own, but for my ears I am pleased with the addition to my setup.

I note the latest update on the app has the ability to add third party speakers now (via power link). I might look into using my hifi speakers as some sort of front L/R channels in the future.

I will be interested to hear your thoughts. I almost bought a pair of 18s for rears.

They arrive tomorrow, will update once I have used them.

Purchased some 18s as a rear set of speakers to go with my theatre. Happy Christmas to me 🙂

I would be interested in knowing if the Shape can be used as a rear option with the theatre. My question is connectivity, can it be used wireless (I assume via the Core)

Currently the Beosound Theatre can only connect to other speakers via Powerlink (wired or wireless). So you cannot use other speakers connected to a Beosound Core, as this would use the Network Link protocol. You could probably if you used a Wireless Receiver instead of the Core. There’s some talk that you’ll be able to connect some Mozart speakers as rear speakers, but Core isn’t Mozart.

                        Thank you

Typically, what volume are you all using through the LG TV (obviously depends) but I am fairly close with the volume at 43-46 and the dialogue is pretty weak. A character also knocked on a door with the scene on the inside and the knock was barely audible. Other elements are fine such as action, score etc. I checked the app and the position is correct and sound setting on movie.

I have found the source of audio on TV makes the listening experience vary significantly more than the Sony system this has replaced. BBC content is highly variable, even 2.0 output can sound hugely different between various programmes.

I start at 40, usually only up to 45 for normal listening but that can be a bit loud in certain scenes. But dialogue can be weak on occasion, but I don’t think this is a fault of theatre.

to change the base to the half circle you will need to take the unit apart (i installed mine at home). I don’t think you can adjust it without the theatre being removed

Is the content on apple atmos soundtracked? It won’t upsample on the Apple TV so if I watch a TV broadcast (BBC iplayer for example) it only sends PCM2.0 to the theatre. But films with atmos tracks it will send as such and I get a dolby logo in the signal info box on the app

The app has a strange organisation of where things are. The source info is via settings which is a bit of a long winded way of finding out if it’s stereo/atmos etc that is getting sent to the bar. I also find you can’t delete a sound setting once you create it, you can swipe and press delete but nothing happens.

As an aside I am wonder if the hiss/white noise I am experiencing is due to the power cable. It didn’t seat that well in the port when I set it up, took effort to put it in place but didn’t feel that secure. I might try another cable to see if that resolves the issue.

The shop is looking at the on-board diagnostics to see if they can see any issues

My question is if it’s worth it as a standalone all in one atmos system. From the reviews the Atmos from the Theatre hasn’t been as impressive as the Sennheiser Ambeo. It sounds like it catters more to people with Beolab speakers.

My soundbar history before the Theatre was the, then top of their range, Sony HT-ST5000. It replaced a cheaper 5.1 surround system that would not work in the new room we were building as the layout does not lend to cables and speakers sat around the seating positions so I went down the soundbar route. The Sony worked well, when it worked, and provided good surround effects in the majority of viewing. Atmos I will cover shortly. But the bar was plagued with software issues from day one (reboots when powered down, an error during atmos soundtracks that made it emit a loud piercing noise that happened at random so Sony couldn’t care much about it).

It is approaching 6 years old and the software issues are becoming more regular so I looked for a new soundbar. The Ambeo was on the list but the reviews were mixed in a few places and viewing it in store I didn’t totally like the looks. The Theatre to me looked and sounded great so that is the road I went down.

I’m using it stand alone at present. It produces a lot “cleaner” sound than the Sony. Voices are much easier to hear in both TV and the limited film clips I have watched since getting it over the weekend. The Sony added lots of bass to everything when I think how the sound of both systems compare (Sony had a wireless sub as part of the setup) for example watching masterchef last night the dialogue sounded a lot less bassy on the Theatre. But the Theatre does have bass, I think it just applies it a lot more correctly rather than with everything if that makes sense?

On the Atmos front. I have been using Soundbar based Atmos for nigh on 6 years. It is VERY dependent on the mix provided. Sky did it well on the live football, it sounded similar to the stadium noise you would hear. Movies really really vary, some do it well but most you are probably only getting something close to a 5.1 listening experience and won’t have a full atmos type effect. But with the “right” atmos sequence the bar does very well and is quite enveloping but you still pick out the smaller sound details (way way above what the Sony it replaced could do).

Ethernet into the input port then two ethernet cables out (one to Apple TV, the other to xbox series s) HDMI from TV e-Arc to Theatre, two HDMI inputs A has Apple TV and B has xbox series s Nothing else connected.

So the simple stuff is to disconnect each one of the External device sources at the HDMI/LAN level behind the TV. Im sure you have done this already and I apologise if I come across as trying to teach you to suck eggs!! Check the eARC. HDMI cable. I dont think the B&O supplied cable is directional but check just in case. If that does not do anything, try running a long extension lead/power cord and power the BSTH and TV panel from different power sockets on different lines if you can? The only reason I state this is I had a similar problem with my BL90s in the upper treble domes. (connecting with 3rd party audio separates, cables, and the Beovision). It was a dog to find the fault and only stopped when I plugged my 3rd party separates into a power regenerator to clean the power supply. Something was causing a ground loop hum. There may be something much simpler (faulty BSTH maybe) but these are first things to test before calling your Dealer.

Don’t worry don’t think you are teaching to suck eggs. I tried without anything attached yesterday and just the Theatre plugged into the socket in the wall, but still got the issue sadly.

im trying to troubleshoot mine. It’s not source caused as it happens on all sources and with nothing connected. Have performed a reboot and factory reset but no improvement
