I am honestly astonished that B&O hasn’t updated this remote to modern WiFi standard. Even more so that they also don’t offer an app to control the Beosound 5.
I will look into third party apps and sell the Beo 6.
Thank you very much for your support Stoobie!
I just read Keith Saunders comment that Beo 6 doesn’t support modern WiFi standards. Only the outdated 802.11 b or g. If this is true the remote has no value for me. My modern router doesn’t even give me the option to set my WiFi to such outdated standards. ☹️
- Option 1 or 2 for the Beosound 5 in the configuration tool doesn’t make any difference unfortunately. I was following this instruction :
I guess it’s really a problem with the WiFi network.
my beo 6 WiFi info looks like this:Hi Stoobie,
unfortunately I don’t get it to work.
This is what I have done:1. I entered the IP address of my Beomaster 5 into the Beo 6 and saved it.
2. I chose my WiFi connection in Beo 6 and entered the WiFi password.
That seem to have worked because I can see the content (albums) of the Beomaster on the display of the beo 6.But whenever I choose a song to play, the connection is interrupted.
In the configuration tool I have the following set up:
does anyone have a clue what I am doing wrong ?
I found the problem. For some reason the USB connection to the virtual machine is very unstable. But I managed to download now a valid test configuration.
Now I can try to program a real configuration for my Beosound 5.If anyone has done that before, I would appreciate any advice. ?
It worked partially. The configuration tool does recognize the beo 6 again, but I am still not able to download the configuration.
@skolesen: wow , what a detailed manual. Thanks for posting this gem. But before I get deeper into programming the remote I want to get a basic and simple configuration downloaded to skippy control my Beosound 5.Will give it a try. Thank you for your support Stoobie!
I am afraid I messed it up. ?
I have a very simple setup. Just Beosound/Beomaster 5 and Beolab 8000 speakers connected.
I tried to program a configuration but when I downloaded it to the remote something apparently went wrong and now the display on my remote says nothing but: invalid configuration! Also the tool doesn’t recognize it anymore ☹️
I finally made the connection !!! ?
I emulated an x86 Windows 11 with UTM on my Mac M1 (you were right, it’s painfully slow), but that made it work. Now the configuration tool does recognize the beo 6.
Now I only have to learn how to program it to control my Beosound 5. ?
P.S.: happy new year to all !
@ Stoobie : unfortunately Oracle does not offer this developer preview for Apple M1/M2 for download anymore. They have removed it from their download page. Probably wasn’t really working. ?
@B3OHACK3R : I guess you are right. I am trying to emulate Windows with UTM on my M1 Mac, but so far I haven’t succeeded to install windows properly. ?this beo 6 remote is about to frustrate me ?
Unfortunately Oracle virtual box does not run on Mac with apple chip, only intel. ?
I will charge the Beo 6 overnight as I read a fully charged battery is important. If that doesn’t work I try your advice with installing the driver manually.
Thank you Stoobie!I use parallels. And when I plug the usb in the
computer ask if I want to connect beo 6 to the Mac or windows. I choose obviously windows. So it seems to be set up correctly. ??♂️
Unfortunately I don’t get the configuration tool to recognize the Beo 6. ?
what am I missing?I will buy just an adapter plug. Don’t need the whole cable.
I keep you updated. ??? after all the hustle I just noticed that I can’t plug in the cable of the beo 6 Docking Station into my Mac. ?
I really managed to install a VM Windows 11 on my Mac and install the configuration tool there. ?
so far so good. Now I need to learn how I can program my Beo 6 with this software.
I have version 3.00a on the beo 6.I have tried it using default mode, but it doesn’t really work.
I keep you updated on my progress. So far it is a steep learning curve for me. ?
I will give it a try. Thank you Stoobie. I appreciate your support.
Thank you Stoobie !
I have found the link of the configuration tool. Unfortunately I have a Mac and I have only found a Windows Version.
Does anyone know if there is also a version for Mac ? - AuthorPosts
