I wonder if they are getting ready to release an update that allows these to be used in a surround sound setup wirelessly. That might explain why the BeoConnect Core only has one powerlink port.

I’m not fortunate enough to own a pair of Beolab 50 but I have seen a number of bugs in the non-Beta app recently, such as:

        – After beginning playback on a speaker the volume bar is empty. Changing the volume on the device itself causes the app to update.

        – The playback controls for a device (usually my BeoSound stage) don’t work so I have to use the remote.

The app is certainly better than some of them, but it does not make me feel good as a customer to be finding issues that should have been caught by QA.

I would like to see them produce a new turntable and think that one could be quite profitable for them if they did, but I expect they will release a 100” beovision (for €100,000) and slap themselves on the back for a job well done.

I will also say that mine sounded much better after listening to them for a while so I believe there is a break in period regardless of what some people say.

I find my H95 considerably more comfortable than my H9i which had the silly round ear cups which are only suitable for those with the tiniest of ears, but my trusty (and crusty) old pair of BOSE QC15 are the most comfortable i’ve ever worn. With modern BT headphones that are quite heavy I don’t think it’s really possible to get the same level of comfort.

I bought the BeoSound 1 when it was released without really getting much of a chance to listen to it. It was the ideal form factor for my use and had Beolink multiroom support so I’d have bought it no matter what. The first time I used it in my kitchen I was quite let down. But I do recall several occasions where it sounded noticeably better and it was always after a software update. The original sound was very muddy. Now it has a decent amount of clarity. It’s my most used speaker.

That’s a shame. I think the BS1 is the perfect kitchen speaker and was looking at buying 2 new ones. The sound quality wasn’t the best but with its other features I thought it was still quite desirable. Of course mine was only £930 new which made it quite a bit more palatable.

My BeoSound 1, 2 and Stage all have trouble with my wireless network when mesh mode is turned on. There is definitely an issue with B&O and some mesh networks. Mesh mode completely breaks Beolink multiroom for me so I just keep it disabled despite losing some of the benefits it is supposed to provide.

I wonder if you still need to upgrade to the Pro version before you can write your own plugins. That is a shocking limitation of the current version.

I have the MK1 BS2 and think it’s wonderful, though I’m not sure I can justify replacing it at the new price. It’s over a grand more than what I paid for mine!

My MK1 BS1 though is sounding a bit rough these days and I would consider replacing it, so I hope that an updated version is in the pipeline.

GVA was not something that appealed to me so I’m glad to see that function has been removed. Who wants a house full of microphones anyway.

The BLI is a joke. You have to pay for the PRO version before you can write your own plugins. Way to knee cap any community driver development B&O. I have half a mind to write a replacement that can run on a raspberry pi. As none of the communication is encrypted (a bit brave considering the state of IOT) it is easy to reverse engineer their APIs. I have a partial software reimplementation of the BeoSound Moment that their app is more than willing to talk to.

That’s a shame. I’m eager to upgrade to an OLED TV but I’m not sure if I’m willing to do it at the expense of that feature. If I am I might as well look at some of the other brands, such as Sony or Samsung which have just brought out their new Quantum Dot OLED TVs.

If B&O really wanted to make it work properly they could. All they have to do is delay the audio that’s sent to the TVs speaker so that it’s in sync with the other speakers, and delay the video so that it’s in sync with the audio. I’d be surprised if we were talking more than 100 milliseconds in total. I mean TVs already have the ability to delay the video they show so that external speakers are in sync. I wonder what their excuse is.

Never heard of Speaker Link but I will keep an eye out for it. Hopefully they will add it to older products (like my BS1 and BS2) via a software update so they can play in sync with the new TVs. One thing I have learned over the years is that B&O cannot be trusted with software, so I’m reluctant to buy anything new until the software has actually been released and is working reliably (ha!).

I would vote for the BS2 because I really like the way it sounds. Very clean, very clear, but also with a little bit of warmth. It’s everything that I expected from B&O and if it was your first speaker I think you’d be very happy indeed. The only downside is that it has become very expensive since I got mine.

I wonder what the point of that is. Are they making it a bluetooth speaker? I personally would really like to see them release a set of speakers I can use with my computer.

I think Andy’s question is different to music sharing across rooms. Like me (unless I am sorely mistaken) the question is that if a BV Theatre setup is playing a video source (be that live TV, Netflix or whatever), can one chose a BS2 or A9 (for example) in a different room play / join the audio part of the video/live Tv playing elsewhere on the BV Theatre. That is / was possible on BV10/11, BV12, Avant etc (i.e those on the BS4 platform) – those BVs have a menu setting for “share audio from video sources”. Being still on an older BV, like myself, Andy is asking whether that functionality is available on the Theatre. I actually dont know whether it is available on the Eclipse / Harmony either, or whether that option was removed. Its a use case I take advantage of reasonably often – for example if I’m watching the news, or the cricket etc on my living room BV12-65, I often go into the kitchen and just tap my BS2 which will then pick up the audio / sound from the BV12. i.e Network Link took care of everything. I’m popping in to my dealer on Friday, and will try and test out this specific scenario

Yep. That’s pretty much what I was asking. I regularly put the news on in the living room and go to the kitchen which is adjacent and join my BS1 to the TV’s audio. The rooms are near enough that if the audio was out of sync I’d notice. All I have to do is a double-tap the top of my BS1 and it Just Works (most of the time). Same with the BS2 I have upstairs. This was for me B&O’s Killer App and the reason I spent what most people would regard as a ridiculous amount of money on a television. The motorised stand and PUC were the icing on the cake.

I recall reading that Spotify Connect was introduced in a Beta firmware version and removed almost immediately in a follow-up. Maybe support is still there even though it isn’t exposed?

You gave me flashbacks to the time I went into my dealer to look at the BV14. They assured me that I could use my Moment in an integrated setup, but when I asked for them to demo it for me they declined, which tells you everything you need to know. I never did upgrade to the BV14 and it seems like I dodged a bullet in the end. Hopefully your experience will be more positive.
