There are a couple of trimpots underneath the deck that are adjustable with a small flat screwdriver – one for 33rpm and one for 45rpm.
Let it run for 5-10 minutes to warm up then, using a strobe disc, adjust these until the speed is correct on both speeds.
Congratulations to all winners – some fantastic prizes as always!
I currently own:
- Beogram 3000 (1960s Acoustical version)
- Beogram 2000 (1980s)
- Beogram 5000
- Beogram 4002
- Beogram 8002
For sound, I’d keep the Beogram 8002.
Looks-wise, I know the 4002 is iconic and I do love it but, personally, my favourite looking is the 1980s Beogram 2000 – I prefer its sleeker plinth and conventional full perspex lid compared to the Beogram 5000.
Steve,
I’d like to know what the situation is with the Cube measurement chamber. I remember a rumour from a few years back that the Cube we all know and love was going to become part of an open-house style acoustic design centre for any company to use and that B&O were working on a new, bigger and better Cube of their own.
I’ve never been able to corroborate this, though, and am beginning to wonder if I imagined it!
Beomaster 8000 receiver
Beomaster 5000 tuner
My entire Beosystem 5000 (1980s)!
(1) Beolab 90s, obviously!
(2) Beoplay A1. It sounds stupidly good for its size.
I do relay on viewing products in the flesh at a local dealer. Many’s the time I’ve looked at a picture of a new item and not been impressed, only to fall in love with it in the flesh!
Surely the ScanSpeak mentioned is the replacement for the later midrange unit with the black dome? The picture above is the earlier unit with the clear dome, which is not the same.
As an aside, is the ScanSpeak an exact replacement for the later unit? I’m tempted if so as I have another noisy midrange driver on my MS150.2s.
To the OP – for glue I would just use standard PVA. It allows for easy positioning and will hold the dome in place fine when it sets.
I have to agree on the Beosound 2 MP3 player. I have one as my wife bought me one as a Christmas present but I have never used it and it’s only ever been out of the box for me to go “oooh” and “aaah” over it. That said, i still can’t quite bring myself to sell it!
Update – I’ve found where the mystery spring goes. It connects between a peg on the top plate and a metal bracket that is missing!
What the hell sort of trauma has this 8004 been through?!
I’m fettling a Beocord 8004 currently. The biggest headache has been trying to work out where the mystery leftover spring sitting on my workbench after the belt change came from! At this rate, I’m going to have to pull the mechanism out of my own 8004 and do a side-by-side comparison.
I’m also trying to acquire two new relays for a Beomaster 8000. RS have had them as “due in stock March 2022” since January, so I’ve been waiting patiently. They duly appeared, I put my order in and the stock went overnight – now showing “due September 2022”.
Luckily I’ve found them at Digi-Key but had to sneakily order them through work…
