Merry Christmas everyone – Chartz – how do the Quads compare with the MC120-2s? I would love a pair of ESL57s to go with Quad33/303 combo (Beogram 1203 for vinyl and playmaker for streaming)
The ESL57 sound lovely, very 3D. The Beovoxes are not ashamed next to them, they also make beautiful sounds, albeit with more bass but they are less subtle of course. I also often use the 33/303/FM3 combo.
I am also a huge Quad fan.December 26, 2022 at 4:02 am #13105- Beosound Edge

December 27, 2022 at 7:04 pm #13136Well after being so impressed with the M75’s that I bought last week I went and bought their big brother today , the M100 . I have to say that imo the M75’s sound better than the M100
and 1 hour later and some more volume, boy do these these m100’s rock ! The bass is like nothing I’ve ever heard . Fantastic
December 27, 2022 at 7:57 pm #13142Glad you are pleased with them – they are brilliant speakers, I’ve been very happy with mine – like I said though I think they need something powerful to drive them. I’ve used loads of different amplifiers – my favourite B&O one was the BM6000, the BM4400 I found not as full. BM2200 doesn’t have enough umps, BL Passive is very weak. Linn pre and power amp too neutral and just sounded like there was no life in it. I thought I had settled on a Quad 33/303 which was awesome but now I used a Valve amp with KT88’s – that’s the best I’ve heard them, it’s a very full sound and there’s enough power when you crank up the volume to drive them properly. The valve amp is only rated at 30 watts per channel but it’s more than enough – in fact more powerful than a Yamaha WXA-50 which is supposedly an ICE Power class-d – the Yamaha was actually the worst amplifier I used with them,
Anyway, enjoy them as they really are superb and will really show what an amp can do.
December 27, 2022 at 8:46 pm #13145Thanks again Andrew, I replied to you elsewhere!
I’ve got them hooked up to my Roksan K3 which I’ve found to be a superb amp with plenty of grunt too ( 130wpc )
I won’t be totally happy until I recap them myself.
cheers
December 27, 2022 at 10:36 pm #13149My ancient S45s (sim S45.2) give outstanding performance with crystal clear trebles and deep base.
A BS8 gives great performance (almost as good as the S45’s and remarkable for the size) either via a mk2 iPad or streaming via Chromecast. Lack of stereo separation is the only drawback of this speaker pair, but stereo seems to be out of fashion these days.I still have a pair of Beovox 2600’s which were a great match for the 1200 Beomaster.
The Beovox speakers were often a bit on the big side, but can still match many active speakers without the use of a sub.

December 29, 2022 at 12:59 pm #13211Hi there, that‘s a nice topic 🙂
I had the first series of S45‘s + an old Beomaster 2400, and next to them their updated version S45-2 on stands with a beosystem 4500. I still love their sound, but in a bigger room now work the S75 together with a Beosystem 6500, which play my music in a brilliant way 🙂
Next to this I like Beolab 7-2 + Beolab 6000 for a TV setup. I am astonished by the quality of the 6000‘s
For a small radio setup I had a Century which is superb for music + speech, which I prefer against Beosystem2500/Ouverture + Beolab 2500. I would swap back but I need the Masterlink. Because the Beolab 2000 as a satellite is also perfect for radio (speech) to my ears 🙂
December 29, 2022 at 1:08 pm #13212My main loudspeakers are Beolab 90s and I also use Beovox MS150.2s regularly.
Hi Adam, that is indeed superb! which amp do you use for the MS150.2s?
ps/edit: how to get out of the quote mode?
edit 2: ah it works, thanks Guy!

Use the tab above the message box that says ‘text’ rather than ‘visual’, and then make sure that your reply is on a line below the final ‘blockquote’ text. You can then click the ‘visual’ tab to make sure that it looks right.

I obviously have a Beomaster 8000 but I mainly use the MS150.2s with a Yamaha C-5000 preamp and M-5000 power amp
January 1, 2023 at 5:48 pm #13448In my livingroom (surround setup)I use:
Beolab 8000 (front)
Beolab 7.4 (center)
Beolab 6000 (rear)
Beolab 11 (sub)
-in the Dining room:
Beolab 4000
– in the bedroom:
Beolab 2000
– in my home bar (Beobar):
Beolab 1
– and then I just bought a set of Beolab 3’s in white. I’m quite impressed with the sound of these small speakers.
January 1, 2023 at 8:27 pm #13458Back in August I bought a pair of BeoLab 12-3s, which then replaced my Beolab 8000 MK3s. I’ve yet to do a side-by-side comparison, but the 12-3s are without doubt a better speaker to my ears. The 8000s desperately need a subwoofer as the fabric moving in front of the bass port is audible to the point, that the speakers are useless when turning up the volume a little more than usual. The sealed cabinet design, dedicated midrange drivers and acoustic lenses of the 12s also make them superior to the 8000s IMO, and the two 6,5” bass drivers per speaker deliver a decent about of bass.
I do have a BeoLab 2 to handle the lower frequencies though, and as rear speakers I use a pair of BeoLab 3s. I did have a BeoLab 11 for a short period of time a couple of years ago and would like to try one out again with the 12s. I preferred the 11 over the 2 when listening to music, but one of them had to go back then.

January 2, 2023 at 2:50 am #13462I’ve tried quite a few. For years now, the M70 for me is the perfect mix of pleasurable listening experience and critical listening when paired with a classic Beomaster, mostly the BM8000 or the BM6000, the little BM2400 has been in my rotation for the past 6months or so and still the M70s sound great to me.
January 2, 2023 at 12:08 pm #13478I always mention these little boxes, but in my opinion you will find so much joy when you sit in front of a pair of ear-height stand-mounted slightly toe’d in Beovox 1702s.
They are warm, clear, rich and airy. Such a beautiful sound from basic little speakers.Julian
January 2, 2023 at 4:04 pm #13486I am currently using
4 x Beolab 8000
1 x Beolab 2
1 Beolab 7-4
together with my Beosystem 7000 and Almando. I have just acquired (well, I am going to fetch them tomorrow night) 2 x Beolab Penta Mk. III (price in Denmark 258 USD), and after restoring them, they will take over for two of the Beolab 8000s in my surround setup.
