Hi all
I just purchased a Playmaker which I use in the bedroom at the moment. I play music via airplay to the Playmaker. If the Playmaker is playing music and I switch the TV on in the lounge (LG OLED 55CS) the Playmaker immediately stops playing music. If the TV is on and I try to play music via airplay to the Playmaker then the Ipad cannot find the Playmaker. It is some type of clash. The Playmaker is connected to the WiFi.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ben
February 17, 2023 at 11:56 am #16029In my experience, the Playmaker has always been a bit ‘flaky’ when connected wirelessly. Dropouts and its disappearance from Airplay devices were frequent when I used mine wirelessly. If you search the older forums you will see many similar experiences.
The simplest solution is for a wired network connection – this has solved many glitches for other users. If cabling direct to your internet modem/router is difficult, consider using powerline network adaptor such as these: https://www.johnlewis.com/tp-link-tl-pa7017-gigabit-powerline-starter-kit-av1000/p5381943

Otherwise it works really well and is quite useful.
February 19, 2023 at 12:01 pm #16146So I purchased a powered network adaptor. The adaptor has full bar signal…..connected the playmaker via Ethernet cable. It works initially then a couple of hours later when the TV has been used it has the same problem. As soon as the TV is switched on I can’t connect anymore to the playmaker via Airplay. I can see the playmaker on Apple Music but it says cannot connect. If I turn the TV off the playmaker still doesn’t work, I have to reboot the playmaker each time. I have tried to change the channel used on the Wifi router but it made no difference.

Sorry but I am confused. Did you buy a powerline adaptor like the one I linked to, or a wireless access point or booster?
The powerline adaptor that I had in mind wouldn’t use wireless at all. One adaptor plugs in next to your Playmaker (and connects with ethernet cable) and the other next to your router (also connected with ethernet cable). The network is then transmitted over your house mains wiring.
If you do indeed have the type that I linked to, then we need to look for another solution. Do you know whether your Playmaker is a MK1 or Mk2, and do you know if its software is up to date?
February 19, 2023 at 12:17 pm #16150Ok I bought a WiFi extender by mistake….I now understand what you mean so what I have done is I have taken the playmaker to the room where the router is and have connected the playmaker via an Ethernet cable directly to the router, connected speakers and I still have the same issue! 🙁

February 19, 2023 at 1:01 pm #16160Strange. I suppose that you could try hard-wiring the TV instead but you’d possibly need a powerline adaptor for that.
Alternatively, have a look at this old thread and maybe investigate some of the options including setting a static IP: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.co.uk/forums/p/9305/81619.aspx#81619

Playmaker mark1 = type number 2930 – 2931
Playmaker mark2 = type number 2970 – 2971
Differences:
– Only the Mk1 will play FLAC files.
– The Mk1 has to be connected (cabled) straight to the router in order to download firmware updates, whereas I believe the Mk2 can do so wirelessly.February 19, 2023 at 1:23 pm #16163Its a Mk 1, I have given up on it to be honest and have asked the seller (reseller of B&O equipment) to take it back and refund me.
Thank you though for all the advice, perhaps a MK2 would work better.

No problem.
I replaced my Playmaker with a second-hand Airport Express, the later A1392 version with Airplay 2. I highly recommend this solution!
February 22, 2023 at 2:37 pm #16417Maybe it is too late and the Playmaker is sent back, but did you check whether maybe PM and TV have the same IP adress? Best regards
