Basicly you can do just like you can with all previous (after BV7/BSys3) systems =

You can give any speaker any role you’d want to!

In case of having two capable speakers, that are assigned as FR and FL, you’d probably be best off with using the L/C/R of the Theatre as one big C/center speaker.

If might also be interesting to try using the Theatre as L/C/R and the – in your case BL18’s – as LWide and RWide. That might be good in certain rooms.

I expect that we will soon read more about this from Geoff Martins pen.

Will be interesting too how the up- and sidefiring speakers can be used…….especially when one has no native Atmos track playing.
(My guess is that they will be used for the speakers/all speakers to adapt better to the room……after a calibration has been done).

I am now going to have a similar setup like Severed hand… After ordering my Theater I had to take both of my Beolab 14 subwoofers in for repair for different problems. I received a less than optimistic prognosis for their repair which got me to rethink my layout. After some careful consideration, I decided to buy a pair of Beolab 18’s, and then talked into a Beolab 19. I already have a pair of Beolab 17’s that I will use for the rears. Along with the Theater, I think this will give me a completely different sound environment than I have now. I was wondering how to use the Theater since I will have the 18’s up front and fairly near the Theater. Hearing that there is a LWide and a RWide channel available could prove really interesting! I will have a lot of experimenting to do.

I wonder is since I have a small room it makes sense to tell both the BL18 and the side firing speakers to be the front L&R. Or maybe that will just muddy the sound. I think it’s going to take a lot of experimenting to see how it bounces off the walls.

I look forward to the up firing ones to see how well they work as virtual highs.

Since the BL18’s will be about 1M from the edge of the TV does anyone have any suggestions as to the best use of the theatre speakers would be?

This is an interesting question. Im going to have a look soon at a Theatre to see if it is worth it. I dont like the stand options and I am still “burnt” from the uselessness of the Eclipse

            1. Specialised LG Panel which no longer available
            2. The LG Interface and operating parameters rather than pure B&O which could be more of the same.
            3. The Soundbar of the Eclipse cannot keep up with the BL90s. Better to mute the Soundbar and use BL90 phantom. Works much much better. Will Theatre keep up?

The marketing seems to suggest yes and seems to indicate it has a DSP which can maximise desirable sound dispersion. The question would have more to do with distance/direction and quality of the front loudspeaker vs the Theatre. I think a pair of BL90’s as fronts and 1.5-2m apart from either side of the Theatre should (according to marketing) interact better than say Bl4000/BL17/BL3, 0.5m apart from a Theatre.

B&O was at Cedia 2022 with the BS Theatre.

Lousy sound quality in the video, but informative.

The Beosound Theatre user guide is now available on the B&O site.

It’s funny that there (with one or two exceptions) was no mentioning of a required ethernet connection between tv and soundcenter, as we know it from the previous LG-based Beovisions in the new install videos. Or was what we saw not LG-tv’s, but another brand, just a generic tv? We still need to know how the unit (including the LG-tv functions) is controlled with a Beoremote One. MM

I visited the demo 2 or 3 weeks ago and asked about this.
The LG still have to install a B&O app. But it is a downgraded version of the LG app when you compare it the Harmony’s sound center version.
The app in the LG store is needed to get the remote 1 working.

My god the Halo was updated for compatibility with the theatre but it can only control music functions. I wonder if volume control while watching TV is even an option.

If not, then it will be just a matter of time, I guess.
You can control the Harmony with its soundcenter with the Halo.

                        That is true.

There is (at least as of now) nothing you can do there but have a link to the app store for the Bang & Olufsen app in order to get all parts connected.

I suppose once you have programmed all (Speaker Groups, listening positions, stand positions, preferred apps of the tv in the remote, integration with other Beolink products in the house, PUC programming, the MyButtons etc), you won’t need the app on the mobile device much…..that is if you choose the combination with the LG-tv.

Some may be ok using the mobile app and the original remote of a different tv – personally I would not want to, but it is doable.

                          Hi Beoworlders,

This video explains how to make sure you hear Beosound Theatre at its best, so you can hear what it is really capable of when you have an in-store or at-home demo…

I hope you find it helpful.

                          Kind regards, Steve.

There have recently been more entries added to the FAQ. There is now an explanation about setting up and using the PUC. I had wondered how we would access some functions in the Menu with the menu overlay being gone since the video is now passthrough. According to the FAQ, pressing LIST on the Beoremote One will show those functions that would have otherwise been in the menu overlay.

That’s the same as with the Eclipse and Harmony.
The Beoremote One BT act as an 2 way remote. Options are send into the BR1BT.
Under listing of TV/Music you will get the different sources. And under List you’ll get the different options/settings.

My biggest concern is that we get all of that 2-way functionality with the Beoremote One paired with the Theatre without an LG screen.

Hi Steve, I’ve tryed to connect my BS 3000 to a BS A1 2. Gen. using a Powerlink to minijack adapter and a jack to USB-C converter. But i can’t get any sound out of the BS A1. If I skip the jack to USB-C and just connect my headphones to the minijack, the music plays in my headphones. Is there a difference in the BS Theater and the A1 USB-C connections?

                                      Kind regards, Frank

                                        Hi Frank,

The A1 doesn’t support an analogue audio input via USB, only the Theatre supports this.

The second generation A1 doesn’t have any cabled audio input, only the first generation A1 has this via a 3.5mm minijack socket.

                                        Kind regards, Steve.

                                            Hi Frank,

That is not an analogue audio connection on the A1, it is a digital data interface to allow the A1 to be used as an external USB interface when connected to a compatible computer. The analogue audio compatibility of the Theatre USB-C connection is different, this is a specific re-allocation of the D+ and D- data interchange pins to allow for a stereo audio input. No other B&O products support this analogue audio input via USB-C as far as I am aware.

                                            Kind regards, Steve.
