      Hi BeoMedia,

Ultimately, this is something I wouldn’t worry about. As with any other Mozart based speakers, once you have set up the Theatre to your liking, there shouldn’t be any need for further app or software updates (although B&O do continue to provide ongoing updates both both the app and the product software if you choose to install them).

You can use the Theatre with a B&O remote without needing the app, but if you have an iOS or Android device with the B&O app installed then this would in theory continue to function long after B&O stopped providing further updates.

I have my own Mozart speakers set to not download further software updates, as I am happy with their current functionality (I may review this if B&O provide extra features in the future!). So, to all intents and purposes, my speakers are operating in that same (theoretical) “end-of-support” situation that you described.

      Hope that helps!

      Kind regards, Steve.

In addition to what Steve had said, I’d add that B&O has proven willing to support old products in the app and in newer versions of the app.

When they deprecated the old Beoplay app, they migrated all of the products over to the new Bang & Olufsen app, and products that are now almost 10 years old are still supported by the app.

I would say it’s safe to assume that, should they release a new app or should a new platform get to in the market (let’s imagine that Android and iOS no longer exist in 10 years), B&O will follow up with a new app that still supports all of the B&O portfolio of products.

          A quick question…..

has anyone see sight on how to mount the BSTheatre to the floor stand? There are no instructions online yet it appears.

STB have a traditional stand….but their prices are almost as silly as B&Os.

Im thinking of using an old stand in any future purchase decision.

My question is in the same way.

Is there a solution to attach the Beosound Theatre to the Floorstand Beovision 7-55? For my seeing position the official floorstand is unfortunately too low and the solution of STB isn‘t a match for me.

I had been concerned about the loss of DTS decoding. Since my previous Beosystems always relied on the player to do the decoding, I never used the bitstream setting of the player. My Sony UHD player has two settings, either “PCM” or “Auto.” I tried the “Auto” setting and the player decoded DTS-HD Master Audio and sent it to the BeoSystem 4 via PCM. Therefore, I’m hoping that this setting will pass Dolby Atmos to the Theatre via bitstream but do the decoding for DTS formats and send that sound to the Theatre via PCM.

It’s funny that there (with one or two exceptions) was no mentioning of a required ethernet connection between tv and soundcenter, as we know it from the previous LG-based Beovisions in the new install videos.

Or was what we saw not LG-tv’s, but another brand, just a generic tv?

We still need to know how the unit (including the LG-tv functions) is controlled with a Beoremote One.

isn’t the ethernet port marked TV intended for that connection (between Theatre and TV)?

I’m pretty sure that will still be the connection path for LGs paired to the Theatre, but good question about whether that needs to be the same connection for other brands.

It certainly looked like this years C series in the instal video that I watched, i.e. an LG.

I guess we will see other videos explaining the setup with an LG-tv.

At one point in the videos you could see the phrase ‘generic tv’ on screen.

It may have been an LG that we see there, but the videos obviously mainly were about the different placement options for the BS Theatre.

Also (in the last part about using the microphone) exactly the same sequenze has been used. Seems to be mixed from different sources.

                          My dealer’s offer contains an LG 29G (or G29) 55″ …

The video is marked “generic” but you can see that they used a LG C2 and matching VESA mount.

I fully agree with you. It seems that the FAQ was made with just the “expectation” of one of the LG TVs recommended. It seems that the ethernet connection is required in such situations. However, ARC can work with just CEC. Yet, the specs indicate CEC “INPUT”. This all is very confusing. There’s also the grey area of if a “full integration” expects that we need TV control for the tuner. In my instance, I will use the Apple TV for everything including my cable provider. I just need to turn my TV screen On and Off.

From what my dealer told me the only TV’s that are officially able to control the theatre and vice versa are the few LG’s listed under compatibility on the FAQ page.

Other TV won’t have a connection port option.

If you want to control the interface of your TV you have you use the TV’s remote and not a B&O remote or app.

Im GUESSING though that with HDMI control turned on though you can easily tell your TV to turn on when you turn on the theatre. But like most people that’s not important to me as I use AppleTV for everything.

Im sure it is more complicated than this…..but what drives me nuts on the Eclipse (Gen1) is the LG interface, with the Beolink control of sound etc…..it is total cr@p and very un-B&O.

Therefore, the error with all B&O TVs and Soundbars is the lack of video engine and tuner. I thinking if they had done this, the monitor part would have been irrelevant and B&O would have full control and upgradability rather than have a product which is totally subservient to the 3rd party monitor.

The BS Theatre continues this approach as far as I can see with limited screen compatibilities. I wonder if the BS Theatre will work on an LG 65 G3 or G4? I’d wager it could have difficulties.

                                    Hi Beoworlders,

I have some interesting news to share from LG – the Theatre can actually be used with a much larger screen than the 77″ that B&O suggest, while still getting full integration and control…full details are in this video:-

                                    Kind regards, Steve.

I find these installation videos oddly satisfying to watch 🙂 Amazing attention to detail B&O have put into the motorised wall bracket. Its a sturdy piece of kit.

Does anyone understand this point in the instal video the floor stand video at 4:10.

This cardboard thing you align the VESA mount to. Is it saying you should push the VESA mount down to touch the cardboard or keep it 9.5mm above it? is this the hight the TV will float above the Theatre?

There appears to be a multitude of holes in the VESA mounting plate to use. Once you select the holes and fasten, the cardboard template shows the precise location the base of the TV must be in relation to the VESA bracket.

This leaves an overlap of 9.5mm between the two and the exact clearance for the TV not to contact the Theatre when all are combined together. There are then indications of some spacing keys to enable you to fined-tune the separation.

That is how I interpret the video

I have a question about the software and how the Theatre will handle it. I can’t find any documentation of course to help me solve this.

                                            Basically my setup is 5.1.

I have 2 BL18’s as front left and right and BL3 as rear left and right and a 3rd party Sub.

So how do I set the Theatre to fill in the gaps?

Even more importantly since I am using the 18’s as front L, R than what do the speakers in the theatre that normally handle that end up doing? Do they just shut off or do they automatically take on another role?

Can I manually set any one of the theatre speakers to any role? Like the wides can act as the centre as well?
