The one thing I am not understanding is the ports to plug in your speakers. There are 4 ports but they are stereo inputs making it 8?
How will that work if I have 2 BL18’s and 2 BL3000 and a subwoofer to plug in? Do the fronts and rears each daisy chain together and then I plug in one cable for the pair?
October 6, 2022 at 1:43 pm #9497Hi,
Powerlink sockets are always stereo, ie both left and right audio signals are present inside each socket. This means that four pairs of speakers (ie. 8 speakers in total) can be cabled to the Theatre via the four sockets.
Kind regards, Steve
October 6, 2022 at 2:10 pm #9501Thanks Steve. So currently I have separate cables running to each speaker but it sounds like I need to combine them into pairs if I want to also plug in a sub correct?
October 6, 2022 at 2:14 pm #9502Hi,
Yes you can use these adapters to link two existing 8 pin Powerlink cables into one RJ45 socket of the Theatre:-
Kind regards, Steve.
October 6, 2022 at 3:04 pm #9504It might be nitpicking, but…
…..the terminology ‘stereo – L/R’ is not correct here.
Each PL connection (and the cable) carries two ‘channels’ – call it 2x ‘mono’, if you like.
This has been so since the first BSys4-based audioprocessor was launched almost 10 years ago.
(Sound from an older audiosystem works different—— even the last of the BSys3 system hat something similar)
Each of these channels can be assigned to a certain speaker just like you need it.
1: You ‘tell’ each PL output to which speaker it is assigned.
2: Afterwards you choose which ‘role’ this output represents in the setup.
See this example from my V1:
1: A BL3 has been connected to the left output of the PL socket 2.
2: This output here serves the role of left front channel.
With the option of creating different Speaker Groups you can can let the same speaker play another role in a different Group. As an example for a different seating position you could let it be the right front channel together with a speaker that otherweise is one of the surround speakers, but then plays the role of the left front.
This means that you can daisychain from each pair of the same sort of speaker (the BL18’s and the BL3000) – the roles for each speaker are set in the app of the Theatre (and not on the speaker itself as with a pure 2 channel audiosystem/master).
The sub would have it’s own PL connection.= You have plenty/enough PL outputs to make what you want to!
MM
Edit.
With the adapter that Steve shows one could even sort of daisychain on each side (from front to back), if both speakers had 8PIN PL connections. This way one would have two seperate channels going out. All there is to do is set each of these up in the app according to speaker type and role.October 6, 2022 at 3:46 pm #9510Thanks MM,
That was a much better explanation than I could give when typing from my tiny phone screen!
Kind regards, Steve.
October 7, 2022 at 12:20 am #9528Thanks guys, interesting.
If I am using PL Mark 3 (Beolab 3000) to the current power link is there any loss of the dual signals in that setup?
Also for the BL18’s. Do I just use good quality Cat7 cables? I believe I can daisy chain them together and then to the theatre as well.
Sorry for rookie questions I’ve never had a B&O sound system just the speakers for 20 years but hooked up though RCA to a 3rd party pre-amp.
October 7, 2022 at 2:01 am #9529I’ve got a bit of a wait before I get my gold theatre, but I am excited about it! It seems to be everything I hoped it would be and more. I’ve enjoyed people talking about the new B&O products after they’ve been released but there seems to be complete radio silence on the Theatre. The usual YouTube sources are quiet too. I hope that’s not a bad sign.
October 7, 2022 at 7:42 am #9531Hi Mark,
Which YouTube sources are quiet? I think all the usual B&O YouTubers except John at B&O Manchester have covered the Theatre so far – John has been affected by supply issues but I know he has now received several Theatres in store so I guess he will likely be videoing them soon.
It is a superb product and there are links to a number of YouTube videos about the Theatre (including on my own channel) in this thread.
Kind regards, Steve.
October 7, 2022 at 8:59 am #9537Well, quiet in terms of actual listening impressions. They’ve mostly been product announcements. I enjoyed your latest video, but I was hoping for something more like the video where you compared the Beolab 18 and Beolab 8000 (without all the traffic noise!) I felt that I got your true feelings about the products and it made me feel safer for just having purchased the Beolab 18s! (I have not received them yet.) I’m sure that the Theatre is going to be an impactful speaker, it would be fun to hear what people think for music and movies. This is a very major purchase for me, the Theatre and Beolab 18s and Beolab 19, I’m hoping it will be everything I am hoping! For me, sitting down and listening to music is my number 1 desire for this new system.
I’m glad to hear that John hasn’t given up on making videos! The supply chain issues are really getting annoying! In truth, it’s your’s and John’s videos that really look forward to watching!
I should add, this is a completely blind purchase for me. I am not able to hear them in the showroom, so these videos are the closest thing I will have for that!
October 7, 2022 at 9:11 am #9539Since the product has only been in the shops for a couple of days (officially at least), you can hardly expect any in depth listening experiences/reviews.
You can listen to the Theatre (with or without the 28’s as surround speakers) in the shop environment, but that is by far not enough.
They still have limited options of showcasing it. The two shops I have visited had the gold one with the stand – as an eyecatcher – in the window for display. The other one – also on a stand – was (just like B&O want it) with the BL28’s in the back.Tip!
Don’t let them play music off YT – let them play from Spotify/Deezer instead.I guess we will have to be patient….untill someone really has the Theatre in his home.
Unless you are able to make an appointment with a dealer for a longer session. Also most dealer still have to learn a lot about the Theatre (when it works in a LG-tv setup).
If you have seen all or many of the videos in this thread, you often know more than ‘some’ dealers. Also looking forward to the video from John/Manchester – his videos mostly are very informative, inspiring and fun ?

October 7, 2022 at 9:55 am #9542I went to see the Theatre in a store yesterday. The intent is to replace an Eclipse 65 Gen1 and hopefully have something that can “keep-up” with screen development. Having spent an hour and a half being demonstrated to me I would bullet point the following from my perspective.
- The sonic capabilities for visual playback are impressive. I think this BS/BL can be used as standalone without much complaint.
- It will be interesting to hear how this unit will hand-off and compliment my BL90s. I think it will take substantial load off them for visual material. Definitely not anywhere as “good” as the 90s but can see the argument that BL28s not required upfront as valid.
- I did not hear a room calibrated Theatre as the Dealer had basically butchered a Gen3 65 Eclipse to demonstrate the Theatre. Out of the box is good.
- I was blown away by the LG C2/G2 screen clarity. A lifetime away from the Eclipse Gen1 screen.
- Still dont like the LG menu setup. B&O need to get a grip here and have their APP completely skin-over the LG interface.
- The whole setup of the Theatre is done via the APP. I was told that the BL50/90 keep their own calibrations but the Theatre “manages” the DSP for visual playback. Music playback is not changed and relies on the BL90/50 calibration.
- I dont like the motorised floor stand – either design, price or functionality. It assists in consuming too much space for the TV.
- I dont like the oak lamella frets.
- The shape and material quality of the Theatre is very good.
- I made it clear I though B&O were taking a joke on the cost of add-ons. A motorised stand which is +£1300 more than the Eclipse stand, price of the wings and VESA mount etc….
- Also made it clear that B&O have to stop making products with specialist parts that have limited life (BS5 Encore power, Moment screens, Gen1 Eclipse Screens etc..). Its a big haircut to have a product binned and to repurchase. This has been heard loud an clear apparently.
Im sure however, this is a good solution for people with Gen1 Eclipse’s and they will sell many of them.
Expecting to order mine today.
October 7, 2022 at 2:11 pm #9550Expecting to order mine today.
Me next week as a replacement for my Beovision 8, which did a marveleous job in combination with BeoLab 9 (not 90) and BeLab 4000. I have to look for a person or familiy in my family clan, who apreciates my old but good as new BV 8.

October 13, 2022 at 6:00 pm #9674Now I have ordered a Beosound Theater and a pair of Beolab 18. Gold and wood on both. Expected delivery in December unfortunately. I already have a TV unit that I will keep for the time being so I will put the soundbar on it. My LG Oled G65 is already hanging on the wall.
I will be using the Beolab 18 as rear speakers. I listened to that setup at my local Bang Olufsen dealer and it was in my opinion very good. Maybe I missed a little bass from the Beolab Theater when I listened to metal, but I think I will have a lot of enjoyment from the speakers for a long time to come. And they look so beautiful.
October 13, 2022 at 7:41 pm #9681My Theatre was expected to arrive today, but my dealer has told me that there is now a 2-3 week delay. I went ahead and bought an LG C2 77″ so that I won’t face frustration with the Beoremote One control. It looks like they’ll both be arriving at about the same time.
I’ll be moving my Samsung 75″ 4K screen and Beosystem 4 to the den to replace my Beovision 4-42. I love the brushed aluminum frame on that Beovision 4, but it’s time to make the upgrade from 720p to 4K.

Congrats on your purchase. I’ve had 18’s for 6 years and I use them every day and they are amazing. My personal opinion though is that they are a bit under-utilized as rears speakers unless you have a big room. It might make sense to use them as front LR and then get some older used BL3000’s or something like it as rears. Thats the setup is what I have now minus the theatre which is on order.
Also the BL18’s don’t have much bass as good as they are. Hopefully the combo with the theatre it will be enough especially for movies.

Mine was due next week but told today it’s delayed 10-14 days due to transport problems. Find this BS actually, unless they are using French truckers and fuel is in short supply.
As Marcellus put it succinctly to Horatio……Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.
October 14, 2022 at 11:19 pm #9722I got the 65″ with the floor stand in oak and I should be getting it late next week if I’m lucky. So excited!
