      Hi Beoworld,

How do see the difference between Beosound 3000 MK1 vs MK2? Are the serial numbers different?

I would like to know, because I want to use it with Beosound 5, and be able to control the Beosound 5 with the Beosound 3000, i.e. play N.Music and N.Radio on the Beosound 3000.

I have read that the Beosound 3000 MK2 have this ability from the factory, and that Beosound 3000 MK1 can be upgraded with N.Music and N.Radio.

      Can you confirm this?

      Kind regards,

      Jens

        Hi,

I can’t say if its related to MK’s but early BS3000 have small clamper and later, big clamper.

For the features I can’t say either, sorry.

          Hi Jens,

I had a BS3000 MkI for a while and can confirm that a software upgrade (eprom change) was necessary to enable the N.Radio/N.Music functionality (N.Music came after BS 3000 MkI). If my memory serves me well, mine was upgraded form SW 1.0 to SW 1.34a. The MkII had this feature from factory.

Every B&O product has it own serial number, but I don’t know when the change from MkI to MkII occured, but I am sure someone on Beoworld will know this and will also know if MkI and MkII had different type numbers.

The MkI version looked different as it still had the small shiny cd-clamper and the shiny front like the BC2300, but some were “updated” to the grey front with large grey clamper like the MkII version, so it the look is not a 100% reliable factor. MkI lacked the PIN-protection feature (not upgrade possible) that the MkII version have (can be deactivated)

I hope this helps a bit.

          Cheers

            Thanks, Foxtrott & Moderator 🙂

I am looking at a Beosound 3000 with sw 2.0.

            Is this a MK2?

I have seen Beosound 3000 with up to sw 3.4.

Are there some kind of change logs on these changes?

            Kind regards,

            Jens

You can upgrade the SW of BS3000 to sw3.4 by purchasing a new processor chip here: https://shop.oneremote.dk/shop/69110-parts-for-bo/4074-firmware-bs30003200-v34/

Their description would suggest that one of the later updates was to include A.OPT 5 and 6.

To be safe, it could be worth checking that the upgrade works on all BS3000s, including the Mk1.

(I haven’t purchased the sw upgrade so can’t vouch specifically, but I have bought other products from them that have worked well)

Further to the above, there is the ability to check the SW level of the BS3000 using Test Mode. It’s all explained in the service manual, available to Silver and Gold members.

Thanks for all the answers 🙂

I will look for a Beosound 3000 with sw 3.4.

By the way, what does A.OPT 5 and 6 mean and what is the functionality of these commands?

                  Kind regards,

                  Jens

Similar to A.OPT 1 and 2 but where the product is in a LINK room.
