      Hello!

      Am new to the forum.

I have a Beogram RX2 that appears in very good mechanical condition. Belts’s good. Senses record size well. Tone arm properly cues itself and changes speed.

What I cannot locate is the source of the right channel hum.

Deck is plugged into a magnetic cartridge input with the ground attached.

Please very well out the left side, but the right side has a full V-meter scale hum.

I pulled the cartridge (MMC4) and the hum was still there…(but still no hum in the left side).

Any of you have some troubleshooting places for me to look?

      Thank hyou.

What happens if you unplug the Beogram from the amp completely?

Hum completely stops. No audio from the turntable either.

Ok. Put a voltmeter in line with the ground lead that goes to the amplifier. Found a 3 to 3.6vAC voltage present.

Pulled the power supply fuse inside the turn table; no change.

Hum is still there…I get the feeling somethings’ shorted. But I also read in the repair manual about an “insulation test” that’s supposed to occur after every disassembly. So far, I’m still hunting what that might be.

Also interesting to see the conductors coming down the tone arm are un-insulated between each other and in full contact…

That voltage test? Is with the turntable disconnected from AC power and after the two 110vac plug prongs are shorted. No change to the vac reading.
