Hi,

My Beogram 3000(5228) Started playing tricks on me.

When I press the Lift button, the record begins to spin, accompanied by the illumination of the orange light. However, the tone arm, refuses to move towards the record. This leaves me with no alternative but to unplug the player, as it becomes unresponsive in this state. This ‘unplugging’ workaround seems to act as a reset, enabling the player to function normally once more when I subsequently press the Lift (Play) button.

This issue first surfaced approximately six months ago, and since then, it has escalated in severity. Regrettably, it has now reached a point where it is nearly impossible for me to play records without resorting to the unplugging and resetting procedure.

In an attempt to address the issue, I undertook some maintenance a few months ago. This included lubricating all relevant components and replacing the motor bearings, belt, and idler wheel. Despite my efforts, the problem persists unabated, and the lubrication and part replacements did not yield the desired solution.

So fellow members, do anyone have a idea what to try next?

Can’t say I remember seeing your problem, but would start by replacing the electrolytic cap in the solenoid circuit and cleaning the contacts under the plastic cover.

The lever (or “rod”) for the tonearm swing can have a little white lithium grease – that’s on the upside of the cam wheel. As can the arm for the lift/lower function, and the cam wheels center hub.
But the small arms and levers on the cam wheel should never be lubricated. A lot of owners make this mistake.
They must be clean and dry – rattling.

Not all Beogram 3000 have the start relay box. Some have a mechanically operated switch.
But if it does have the relay, you could replace the capacitor as suggested above. It’s a bipolar type if I remember correctly.
A misadjustment of the position of the start relay could also cause problems.

I try to replace the capacitor first. Does anuone know the exact model of it?

The problem has been successfully resolved. After replacing both the diode(1N4007) and capacitor(2u2 365V -> Replaced with 2u2 450V), the problem has been fixed. Thank you so much!
