Hi all,
I bought a used beovision 11 – 40, and I set up the latest apple TV 4 with PUC to control the box with the beo 4.
It works perfectly! There is only one small odd: When I boot the beovision from apple TV source, it does not show the beovision opening scene, because I think that the apple tv takes some secondes to boot. So I tried these workarounds without success:
- I know there is an option to add some “blank delay”, and I added some delay until 20 sec, but it does not fix the problem.
- I used another HDMI and PUC ports, but does not fix the problem
- I tried to connect another apple tv
- I also tried with another HDMI cable
- I updated the beovion with the latest version, and hard-reseted, nothing changed.
One thing that I noticed: if I boot the tv with apple tv followed by “picture mute”, then when I “picture unmute”, the opening scene is perfect.
Have you ever seen this issue? I think this problem could also be on beovision avant and beoplay V1; because they all share the some OS.
Thanks,
December 22, 2023 at 5:10 pm #27638Not sure what you wanted to see here. Is the “opening scene” the Bang & Olufsen text?
I have disabled powersaving on my BV11 setup so when I press my shortcut button on my Beoremote 1 that I have mapped to the AppleTV source, it opens up with the curtain and reveal the AppleTV screen.December 22, 2023 at 5:28 pm #27639Thanks for your answer!
By “opening scene”, I mean the curtains: when I press the shortcut button from my remote that I mapped to the AppleTV source; it does not opens up with the curtains, it directly shows the appleTv screen.
I also don’t set powersaving on picture.
Did you set any blank delay?
Thanks
December 25, 2023 at 6:01 pm #277100 second blank delay.
December 25, 2023 at 6:36 pm #27712Ok, and do you keep the apple tv always on? Do you turn if off when the tv is off?
On my side, I turn it off when the tv is off.
thanks
December 27, 2023 at 9:07 am #27758My ATV is set to be always on. I guess if you have the ATV set to power off each time, the curtain will open prior to the ATV and you will not see that effect.
December 27, 2023 at 9:18 am #27759ok thanks, I ll give a try this evening.
December 27, 2023 at 7:30 pm #27801Ok, even if the apple tv is set « always on », I don’t see the curtains.
It seems that something adds a delay before showing up the picture. Do you enable Wifi?
thanks
December 27, 2023 at 8:24 pm #27804I actually found out that when I switch from apple tv source to another source (radio) it is instant, but when I switch from another source to Apple tv, I observe the same delay (like 6-7 seconds) before seeing the picture.
Do you see the same delay when switching between sources?
January 2, 2024 at 9:46 am #28039hi all,
Anybody also seeing this issue?
Thanks
January 2, 2024 at 1:25 pm #28059Check the setting you have in the AppleTV.
Go to Settings > Video and Audio > Match Content > Match Dynamic RangeHere I have the setting “No”.
Having “yes” may add the delay you have.January 2, 2024 at 4:45 pm #28061This might be a good advice for a ‘non HDR compatiple’ tv like the BV11.
However, those with a modern 4K (LG) tv should always leave ‘Match Dynamic Range’ ‘On’ in order to ensure the automatic switching between ‘non-HDR’ and ‘HDR’ content.

January 2, 2024 at 5:22 pm #28062I also disabled this setting.
Here are my Apple TV Video settings:
- Format: 1080p SDR
- HDMI: YCbCr
- Match content: No (both HDR and FPS)
With these settings, I still have the delay. really strange…
I also disabled network in the BV11, but did not change anything.
Thanks for your answers
January 2, 2024 at 5:33 pm #28064From the Apple TV settings, do you set 50 hz or 60 hz?
And from the BV11 picture settings, do you set the “judder cancellation” to Full, Adaptive or Off? (I don’t know if this setting makes any sense with the Apple TV°
Thanks

Absolutely.
My advice clearly relate to a Beovision 11.January 3, 2024 at 12:32 pm #28119I found this thread on Apple community: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255310556?sortBy=best
The startup delay seems to be the expected behaviors of the Apple TV 4th
Does anyone have a BV11 with Apple TV 4th (ideally 4k) with TV OS 17 and see the opening curtains when starting the TV and Apple TV with the beoremote?
January 3, 2024 at 3:09 pm #28123My ATV is 4K version (model 1842) first gen.
January 3, 2024 at 9:22 pm #28148ok and do you use the HDMI socket 1? or another one?
Thanks,
January 5, 2024 at 10:20 am #28218Yes. HDMI 1.
I have done a videoclip showing the startup that you can watch hereI have programmed one of the “My Buttons” to startup the AppleTV source.
January 5, 2024 at 10:35 am #28219oh thanks a lot for the sharing this video.
So the startup is really fast, and it seems that you even don t have the Bang & Olufsen logo when you start your BV11.
For me, no matter the source, it takes more than 20 seconds to startup the BV 11 and it shows the Bang & Olufsen logo during this period.
Did you set any other sources with the BV11? or only ATV?
Thanks again for sharing all this info
