I’m wondering if it is just me. I’ve never much used the alarm feature on my bs2 mk1. I tried setting a B&O Radio station for an alarm, but it changes to alarm tone after saving it. If I edit the alarm, it show up as alarm tone, and if I try to switch it to radio, it doesn’t let me change the station or save the changes. I tried this on an Essenfe mk2, and it behaves the same. Standby alarms work fine. Is this a known bug somewhere? Any known workarounds? I did delete all the alarms and reboot the device, but that didn’t help.
March 24, 2023 at 4:58 pm #17987I have the same issue with my BS2. I think it is sine the switch to B&O Radio? Hope they will soon fix this.
March 24, 2023 at 5:33 pm #17991On ASE products there is a bug when you set the alarm the “easy” way but there is a way to do it.
Go to Product Settings -> Configure -> Clocks and Timers -> Alarms
You will see your current alarms there and when you edit them you can change the alarm action, save it, and you are good!
March 24, 2023 at 5:43 pm #17992Interesting, will try this out, thanks!
March 25, 2023 at 2:32 am #18020That was the original way to configure the Beosound 2 or any other ASE system. This was before the B&O app came out. You would access the configuration page through a web browser with the URL similar to:
http://beosound-2-26000000.local./index.fcgi
where 26000000 would be the serial number of the unit.
It still works, but it is easier to get to it now through tbe B&O app with Product settings -> Configure

March 25, 2023 at 11:31 am #18029Oh, and make sure your time zone (Location) is correct. One time after resetting my Beosound 2 I forgot to set the time zone and woke up 6 hours early!
It’s under Settings -> Country
March 25, 2023 at 3:13 pm #18043Another question, do all BS2 versions have the alarm option? My BS2 and my friend’s A9 both without GVA have the alarm function but my A9 with GVA has not. I don’t really get why it is missing from my A9, seems a bit arbitrary.
March 25, 2023 at 3:30 pm #18044I have the original Beosound 2 so I don’t know about the next iteration. I remember it took a little while for the Mozart products to get the alarm. I don’t use GVA but would that have an alarm function? I don’t know why B&O wouldn’t include it across the board.
March 25, 2023 at 3:37 pm #18046Likely not the A9 that is the exception, rather its GVA-ness: Wasn’t it the case that with GVA loaded, Google had control of your calendar(==schedule) thus prohibited licensees from having a function that “ought” to be done inside the Google ecosystem? Therefore I believe if you tell your Google Assistant to set an alarm on that device, it works just like Googoolians would expect. (Based on faded memories; I returned the only GVA product I ever purchased when it kept shouting at me its microphone was turned off. Too bad, really, it was the dregs of the BeoSound 1 NewYork Editions and was a real bargain.)
March 25, 2023 at 3:38 pm #18047Probably because you can ask Google to wake you up ?
MM
March 25, 2023 at 3:43 pm #18048May be, but the Mozart products with GVA do have the alarm function.
I think it is a very wise decision of B&O to get completely rid of Google. There are so many little things that do not work on the GVA products that are not documented. And even worse, simple commands like “turn off in 2 hours” just don’t work ?
March 25, 2023 at 9:47 pm #18076Yes, it’s definitely a GVA thing. My 1 ASE GVA device (a BS1 New York edition that i bought on a deep discount) doesn’t have the alarm option. Why allow a setting when you can just ask your technical overlord?
March 26, 2023 at 12:53 pm #18092That had to be a nightmare for B&O software-wise. They could control all the features of non-GVA devices but had to rely on Google for many of the features of the GVA devices. Of course the customer would complain to B&O if some Google feature didn’t work properly.
I never bought the GVA version of a device.
