The setup of the BLGW and BLI is practically the same. Much easier than the MLGW — which didn’t even have direct Hue support. The BLGW/BLI basically just imports all of the info from how you programmed your Hue lights and scenes on the Hue app.

The BLGW has a couple of benefits for you, in my opinion — in addition to the cheaper cost. With the BLGW you already have all of the control you get from updating a BLI to PRO mode. Also, the BLGW has a masterlink port. (both old style as well as the RJ45 — so actually 2 ML ports) So you can keep a traditional ML network as well as NL devices all being used with the BLGW. The BLI did away with ML completely and has no ML port. This does not replace an NL/ML Converter. If you add an NL/ML Converter to an ML device, you are essentially turning that ML device into an NL device, which gives you all of the benefits of borrowing sources between NL devices and joining from one NL device to another.

Hi All

I’m thinking about buying a Master Link Gateway, but it seems like in order to use it with BeoLab 3500 you need a firmware version 3.3 or higher, my BL3500 are firmware version 2.0 and I can’t find any PCB36 with FW 3.3, also I have 5 of them so it would be expensive.

Can someone confirm, that it won’t work with the lower FW versions before I buy a MLGW?

Hi All

I have migrated from the BLGW to the BLI but I need to keep the BLGW on the network for the Masterlink connection.

If I keep both the BLGW and the BLI running on the network, all of the Avants point to the BLGW for the HomeControl overlay instead of the BLI

How can I change this so the main overlay for the BeoVisions is the BLI?

Please help.

Hi,

i‘m having some trouble with 2 devices, having the same problem, a Masterlink-Gateway and a Beosound Essence MK2.

Both devices show the s/n 00000000 in its firmware.

They are not found by the B&O-App for setup.
Does anybody know if there are batteries inside (like cmos-batteries in pcs) that could be the cause?

In general both devices seem to work correctly, the essence can be used with bluetooth, dlna or airplay without problems.
MLGW can be configured completely and is found by the Beolink2-App on ios.

The web interface of both devices can be accessed and used completely.

The essence does not upgrade the firmware to the latest, i think because of the missing s/n causing problems in identifying the hardware online.

Manual software update is not possible as B&O does not give acces to the firmware-file.

Has anybody had the same or similar problems with these or different devices or knows where to get the firmware files?
